Rico is twenty.
Rico has been at the club since he was 8.
He was captain of the U18 team at the age of 15, a team that were champions of the nation.
He played internationally at U19, U21 and now the full national team.
He has 2 league titles, an FA Cup, a Champions League, a Community Shield, a Super Cup, and a World Club Cup.
He is already an achiever, with 56 appearances for one of the world's best teams in probably the global-leading football league competition.

Mason Mount.
Was with Chelsea since the age of 6.
He won the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the World Club Championship.
He was named Chelsea’s player of the season. Twice.
He’s played for every England age group team from U16 to seniors.
He won the European U19 championships for England.
And he wouldn’t be good enough for our starting XI either.

And Rico did it all for us.
And is now consistently picked by a manager widely considered to be one of the greatest football brains in history.

Glad you can still make snide remarks against a young City academy graduate even after a win against a tough opponent.

I think Mcatee & O'Reilly might be good enough to be regular starter for City in the near future, I don't see that with Rico.

I will be happy to see him proving me wrong and become one of the club best players ever.

Hahaha a good analogue. I agree the titles don’t justify performance. It should be the other way around. Rice was expelled from Chelsea academy as he showed no potential while Mount was kept as the golden boy.
But on the other hand I refuse to take Lewis as a Mount. Mount was provided with all opportunities despite performance and tasked with the easiest role of inverted winger, a bit like Foden’s role for just one quality - high press. He got all corners and free kicks to build up assist statistics. Mount’s ball control and passing is championship level to be honest.
While here Lewis is doing the most dirty job of a team, inverted full back, at which nobody knows how to play. Lewis was hyped too much last season but this season he was slayed too much. In Chelsea forum criticising Mount was evil deal but here everyone can join the fest in slaying Lewis. Lewis will come good, a proper football player here or in other clubs.

It worked against Palace ut the general problem all season was playing Lewis with a number of easily knocked over older players in midfield.

Lewis in himself isn't a bad player at all. I think his biggest weakness is not attacking and instead playing too safe. But Nunes is forces to do the same.

This is Pep's fault this season. No variance in tactics that seem outdated or ill-fitting these days.

I hope we don't sell Lewis but I hope that some of Bernardo and Kovacic and KDB are replaced with top top players and Pep gets some imagination. Maybe Pepe should do mushrooms this summer.

Watching the game for the 3rd Time again, as it turns out, the goals had nothing to do with Rico...

He did the right thing in that scenario. Stayed in line with his last defender and allowed Eze to stroll offside. Unfortunately, one of Gundo or Gonzo failed to track Saha

Almost 100 appearances for us and he is no better than he was to begin with. The trouble is he used to be surrounded by the best City team in history. Now that we are rebuilding and we need new players to step up, he is not one of them. Weak and slow, with no positional sense. Pep's biggest blind spot in his time with us.

He is a good lad and hd gives it his all but he is not good enough for our club .

Didn’t Kalvin Phillips get a treble aswell ?

Is the correct answer

Anyone objectively watching the game on Saturday knows that is simply untrue.
If you enter a game trying to prove your bias against certain players, you will see what you wish.
I watched the game live and the replay and highlights. He had a really decent game, and we won 5-2. If you read some posters here, he was awful. There is a pattern within a section of our fanbase who similarly have singled out players like Rodri, Grealish, Nunes, Sterling, Mahrez, Gundogan, et al. I don't get it, and never will. Now, they call some of those players out for their greatness and say that new players at the beginning of their careers here will never be as good as them. They are in the transfer thread insisting that only players that are now as good as peak KDB are good enough to replace him, forgetting that when he joined he had years of development ahead of him.

I'm old enough to remember our scapegoats, Ian Bowyer, Paul Power,Richard Edghill to name a few.Lewis albeit limited in certain aspects is nowhere near as bad as some make out on here. After we beat Chelsea away on the opening day at the Bridge the mood and assessments where totally different, there is a player in there in my opinion so let's get behind him when we put this disappointing season behind us where there is still a lot to play for.

Chelsea sold Mount for 55M. I'd take that for Lewis.

He's definitely a better footballer than Mason Mount.

Rico has got a great attitude and mental strength. He's still in the early stages of his development, and too much has been expected if him imo. He'll be a great squad player for us in the long term.

He has his pro’s in terms of club trained, English, knows our system etc.

He is also being judged with us not having a first choice RB, which ultimately makes his role the potential one.

This means we judge him in a way that is not where he is expected to be.

Back up RB is his position ATM and maybe he can improve.

If we sold him, I highly doubt it would come back to bite us in terms of his ability, but we may struggle to get someone as well suited to what should be the role in the squad.

Unless we have a RB in the youth set up with a higher ceiling and could play back up now, he is a keep.

Tbf, you may know more re Mount than I do. I’m not a closer follower of his, and got the info from a quick glance at Wiki.

As for Lewis as I’ve said before on here I think he will find his level, but it will be lower than a top 4 PL/team with aspirations to win Champions league. If we decline, then he could stay with us as a starter, but I don’t think any of us want that. He is a lower half PL/upper Championship standard player based on what I see, and I’m not just taking a lot the last match. He doesn’t excel enough in any position. He may have done as a junior, but not as a senior.

As a squad player, agreed possibly, but no more for me, and there’ll come a point where he (should) want to leave for regular first team football.

You say he’s in the early stages of his development but others on here were mentioning he’d been at the club since he was 8 or something.

I agree re his attitude being one of his qualities btw, but I get concerned every time I see him in our starting line up.
