I completely disagree mate. How can you properly judge him on his appearances for us. He’s barely played. It was his first start in 10 weeks against Salford. How’s any player meant to show consistency with no starts

Sheffield United were terrible, yet he still stood out.

I don’t agree with your last point. Why would we be worse off, bringing him off the bench or starting him in the odd game? (no one’s expecting him to start every week). Do you really not rate him that much?

We weren’t worse off when he came on against Leicester.
The reason he has hardly played is because one of the best coaches in history.......doesn't choose to start him, there is obviously a reason for that?
A short cameo off the bench, is no reason to suddenly think any player is good enough.
Even Saturday, totally anonymous first half....maybe that's why Pep doesn't agree with you?

You really think he is at the level of Marmoush . Or you'd like to pass on players at that level to give academy lads a chance.

We are the highest level of the sport . Academy lads breaking through will only be for the special ones (foden)

The academy for us isn't based around getting players into the first team .

It's to develop them and sell for a nice profit.

That's the reality . There is nothing romantic about it.
No, but that kind of attitude lost us a Palmer too who is at a higher level than Marmoush. Not saying Mcatee is the answer, nor if he is the level of Marmoush and that is down to us not seeing enough currently.

There is only one real way to tell that. Marmoush comes here, McAtee goes to Frankfurt and you see how they both do the rest if the season.

Not every player is a Palmer btw.

I am fully aware of that, but clearly we didn't see what we had on our hands at the time and was eager to let him go and happy with the likes of Doku coming in. The point is that youngsters don't really get the chance with us, somebody from oversees who we pay a fee for then get more of a chance (Doku Palmer comparison) I am happy for Mcatee to be loaned, he won't get the minutes here that's for sure and thats because we don't give the youngsters a consistent chance. Foden was a blue and stuck it out, Lewis can't believe his luck and isn't the required standard, yet gets minutes for some unknown reason. 2 out of countless academy players since Peps arrival isn't exactly glowing is it.

From what I have seen so far Mcatee isn't quite the level we need. That might be because he isn't getting a chance to play at that level properly. I thought the same with Palmer

We can sell. Just have to be with a buy back clause.

Loaning out is not as useful. When you sell with a buyback clause, you are well protected.

I don't think he is currently as good of a midfielder to help us with the struggles in the middle. But he has something special in the final 3rd.

So let him go develop for 2 years and but back for 65 million
We could sell Dax but I think there's room for him to develop here. I'd hate to see him doing the business at another club because when I see Palmer smashing it at Chelsea I feel sad that it's not for us.

Have we ever triggered a buyback clause on a player? (post takeover). I can't recall any.

Pretty sure we did with Angeliño

I hear what you saying but I genuinely think we saw enough of Palmer to see that he was capable of reaching the levels that he has been doing at Chelsea. I think McAtee looks decent enough but he isn't going to be another Cole Palmer.

I can't understand people who look at McAtee and don't see a player. Raw yes, untalented no
Think most people are worried we end up letting another palmer type player go.

Not sure he is good enough. Goes missing in games.

We all want local talent to stay.

Either play him and find out or sell.
