Yeah, he's a luxury player, doing flicks and tricks while we were 1-0 down to Leyton Orient. There was one moment he let an Orient player take the ball off his because he didn't want to get in a physical battle. I was one of the fans calling for Pep to give him a chance in the midfield, I can see why Pep didn't
 
I don’t think he’ll make it with us or that he’s Premiership material unfortunately. Obviously talented but probably Championship standard or German/dutch league.loved to proved wrong.

He had a great chance to impose himself at Orient but he went missing in action, I hardly noticed him touch the ball. Can't see him getting another start right now unless we get another lower level team in the next round. He really needs to make things happen because time is running out i think.
 
I’ve pointed this out a few times now but he seems to be unwilling / unable to impose himself.

He’s wonderfully gifted and a joy to watch when he’s at it but for me he’s still playing like a junior player overawed by the seniors around him. Like he’s not quite sure he should be there. It has to be a mentality thing.

I’m a fan but I think he needs another loan but for a decent side not a relegation candidate. Somewhere like Bournemouth or Brighton. Or similar abroad.

Said the exact same in the match day thread.
Shame really as there's a good player there, unfortunately doesn't seem to want it enough
 
We should not be too quick to put down our boys. He didn't have a good game on Saturday. It happens.
But he also helped in other games when called upon.
Personally, I was more impressed with O'Reilly during the game. He's still very young but you can see the quality.
Mcatee is important to the team this season and will continue to receive my support as long as the manager thinks he can do a job for the team.

He is getting very few chances so the pressure is immense for him to perform highly in every single apearance. Thats impossible. No one performs at 100% on demand. De Bruyne looks league 2 level without match cadence. Foden was abysmal when he came on. He's in a really tough position.

We missed 3 very good chances yesterday.
2 in the 1st half from Savinho crosses to Gundogan and Marmoush.
McAtee missed a relatively simple chance in the second half, clipping the outside of the post.
He tried bending the ball with the outside of his left foot instead of taking the easier option of his right foot.
Looks like he is lacking confidence and over compensating in taking the more difficult options.
 
It suits him now that we play with more players around Haaland in terms of goal scoring.

Maybe with time he can bring the midfield composure side to him back in like Phil showed today.
 
That finish is a lot harder than it looks, really good finish that, reminded me of a Sergio goal. It might not be a significant goal but if he comes on and makes an impact consistently enough, it will not go unnoticed by Pep. Just needs to keep going, he's a very talented player and i still believe there's a role for him here, it's just whether it's a role he wants. Really need to get him tied to a new contract so that we have control over his future, could cost us tens of millions if we dont.
