Movement is ace. Just not ruthless enough…yet.

Once it clicks, he’ll be scoring 10/15 a season. Whether that’s with us, I don’t know, but I think he’s mint.
I don’t think it will, I just don’t see it. Shows moments of quality, but overall it’s miles off what we need.

Felt he had a decent game but the sub was correct. That effort to chip the keeper was delightful and displayed the talents he has.

I really hope we can keep him even if we get him on a new contract and have to give him another loan to satisfy him, I'm convinced letting him go just yet would be another mistake. Even if we still end up selling him a few years down the line, there's a significant rise in his value on the horizon. There's a £60m+ player there.

The way some of you talk about him you'd think he's a prepubescent, him and doku are the same age and O'reilly is 2 years younger, he's a year younger thank Gvardiol. I know doku is frustrating but he's shown moments of quality and potential. O'reilly has literally changed and wons us games. This guys scored against salford and even in that game was invisible other than the goals. Not good enough, I'm sure he's a nice guy though its not personal
He’s scored and impacted more games than just the Salford game though hasn’t he.

He’s also show moments of quality and potential - like tonight. If he didn’t have potential pep wouldn’t be playing him.

I thought he played really well tonight and led the frontline.

He has an uncanny ability to be in the right spot at the right time, which can't really be taught. I'm not sure if he'll ever take the next step or not, but I want him to find out here. He's still young and club trained, hopefully they can convince him to stick around.

He had one very difficult chance - the lob over the keeper. It’s a bit harsh to judge him on that!

He’s also not a striker. I presume your saying the same about all our attackers this season?
One chance? Did you have your eyes shut when he missed the easier one from Nico’s cross?

Disagree which games has he impacted in your opinion?

he's scored 3 goals in the league games (reasonable given limited minutes) but all in some of our few comfortable wins this season when we were already in front, he often is invisible though clearly gets in scoring positions regularly but standing out in any other way is a massive stretch, and he struggles to be impactful in midfield or stand out in any other way, other than popping up with goals when we are cruising. He scored a hatrick against salford in the cup and against orient and plymouth he was clearly very disappointing. EFL games he started likewise nothing of note I saw in those games. If he was playing well in all round aspect of his game but not scoring I'd actually be more optimistic, I think the goals are flattering his overall performances.

I wish he was good enough because it would be great to have another academy product, but he reality is if we keep him around with the aim of getting him more minutes the club is moving in the wrong direction. We need to upgrade on our current starters let alone players who can't get in the team in a meaningful way. If it was a case of a purring midfield of past 5 years then sure keep him around for a year or two to see if he develops, but we cannot rely on him to be starting games regularly. Pep has obviously asked him to stay this year but if he impressed him he would be starting games more regularly like O'Reilly, Lewis, Khusanov, Bobb (when fit) all of who are younger but clearly he thinks more of them than McAtee.

Again this is nothing against him I'm sure he's lovely and seems to hvae a good attitude and I may well be wrong, but just dont think he'll reach the level required to be getting back to being the best team in Europe again.

I think he’s a moments player. Not particularly eye catching but his movement will garner goals and that in-turn will increase confidence.

I thought he was decent last night, pressing and defensively very sound and coped well being placed to play in Pep's "functional" team.
If he was given this opportunity to play with the best of Pep's City teams, he would fit like a fish in water.

There is just over 8 months between James and Josko Gvardiol. I think if James was a few years younger he would be worth persevering with but hes not and with Bobb and the kid in the 18s coming through(albeit different positions) I cant see him being the player we need here.

I find it fascinating Pep didnt play him when we were absolutely shite but starts him for a "final" i do have some sympathy here for James. Its hard to build rhythm and momentum.
