9/11

Are we gonna be subjected to a disney-esque mournfest over this every fuckin year?
I have no problem with families mourning their dead relatives but must the whole world be forced to show their 'sympathy' as well?
It was 9 years ago and thousands of people have died since due to terrorism and natural disaster.
Everyone who persihed that day seems to be a 'hero' or 'the best dad/husband/wife/fireman in the world'

Without googling, can anyone remember the date of the Omagh atrocity?

You aren't being forced to do anything of the sort, just ignore it.
I will respect the anniversary because i want to, you blank it out because you want to,it's easy.
I do understand what your saying about the terrorism, for example the Manchester bomb & 7/7 & natural disasters, but this was the first time the world saw the face terrorism in real time & it was the first time we saw how extreme these fuckers could be.but for the grace of God it could have been us.
If 9/11 & 7/7 was meant to crush the will of America & Britains in fighting terror it was a grave error on the Terrorists part because in murdering every colour creed & religion including many Muslims in 9/11 they showed the world the sick crusade they are on does not have an aim other than death to whom they will it on.

That's ny whole point, it's impossible to avoid.
I watched what promised to be a look at 9/11 from an investigative angle but it soon turned into sentimentality.
It's in every paper, on every tv station (except babestation) and all over the radio.
You mentioned that 9/11 was the first live terrorist event and that is the key. People watched it on telly and somehow now feel a part of the distress and grief that those directly involved feel.
Yes, it could have been 'us' but it wasn't (god has nowt to do with that but that's a whole nother thread) so why are people so quick, almost happy, to form some kind of association with it.
Not sure about your last paragraph but i'd say, up until 9/11 Britain and the US didn't need to do that much in 'fighting terror' from Muslim extremeists. Once bush came out with his, 'you're either with us or against us' speech then the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent peole was inevitable.

Bullshit. There's terrorism all over the world everyday and has been for hundreds of years. Tell the Israeli's that terrorism was first faced in real time in 2001.

The difference is that this happened in America instead of far flung countries where only brown people live, which nobody seems to care about.

Also, pointing at somebody and saying "it's them, they are the evil ones" without ever understanding WHY they do such a thing is fucking idiotic and is the exact reason why things like 9/11 happen. We aren't the good guys. Neither are they.

There's no good and bad, there's just different societies. For a thousand years, we have systematically raped their countries for all natural resources, overthrown their democratically elected governments, bombed the shit out of their towns and cities and politically and economically fucked them over. America and Britain are a disgrace internationally and have been for most of our history. This is our payback, and is fully deserved politically.

We're trying to be influenced to be scared of a bunch of amateurs who live in caves. It's pathetic. If this was the other way around, we'd be calling them heroes or freedom fighters or whatever euphemism that we use for it now. The small enemies who took on the might of the world's only superpower.

The only reason that we are now fighting them, is because we no longer have any use for them as allies. We know for a fact that their training camps were in Afghanistan and Pakistan because WE FUCKING BUILT THEM.

Pakistan is also an interesting one. They train terrorists. They fund terrorists. They hide terrorists. We know this, and they know that we know this. However, they're our allies because they are still useful to us.

It's all politics and it's all fucking bullshit. Nobody cares. Any politician who attends a memorial should be fucking shot as a traitor.

This is a little bit off the topic but does anybody remember a few weeks after the war kicked off when an American fighter jet was supposed to have been shot down in Baghdad and they were showing live pictures on TV all day of the Iraq army searching for the pilots. I remember being glued to the TV watching this and hoping they got away. Can't remember what actually happened though.

a remember getin in from the pub at night times and sticking sky news on to watch the live broadcast from Baghdad of the RAF/USAF bombing the shit out of it. weird to watch.

Just because you have a different agenda on Terrorist attrocities it doesn't make what i posted bullshit.
You posted a link to a site & pleaded with posters on this forum to donate to a site that was posting information on the internet that would most likely cost British soldiers & civilians lives so it's best if you of all people don't try to take the moral high ground & be the judge of what a traitor is.
What i posted was relative to 9/11 feel free to start your own thread about why what the terrorists did at 9/11 was so helpful to Afganistan,Pakistan etc by all means, i'm sure the term bullshit in regard to your views will be ok.

In my opinion, we (UK) and the Yanks have been far more extreme in the terror stakes, it's just that it is not written about. 9/11 was a gift because it meant that the US/UK alliance could do whatever it liked with impunity.
By remembering it every year in such a high profile fashion we are laying the ground for the next bit of violence, this time against those other pesky Muslims in Iran.

Yes, claiming that 9/11 was the first time that we saw extremism is complete bullshit.

You posted a link to a site & pleaded with posters on this forum to donate to a site that was posting information on the internet that would most likely cost British soldiers & civilians lives so it's best if you of all people don't try to take the moral high ground & be the judge of what a traitor is.

Go on then smart arse, explain exactly how Wikileaks would "most likely cost British soldiers and civilian lives"?

I'm desperate to hear this one as I know it's going to be equally fucking hilarious and retarded.

Are you for real? Did you even read what I posted, or did you just pick out a few words then put them together in your head?

Go on, I'd like you to bold where I said anything of the sort here.

You are arguing against points that I didn't even make. Somebody once told me "don't argue with an idiot; they'll just drop you to their level and beat you with experience". Perhaps I should take this advice.
