Why was he playing then - we cannot accommodate players in a top match who have understandable distractions.
Maybe he thought he would be better working than sitting somewhere brooding/mourning. I know that in the past I’ve thrown myself into my work during a bad time.
Give the lad a break, he probably senses the negativism and it affects his confidence.

I don't blame him for putting himself forward but far from a confidence builder the way it panned out.

Tbh I think it should be a rule that anyone who has lost somebody close will not play in the next fixture . Our problem is we only have Haaland who is a true striker and that is crazy considering we are looking to win another treble

Now that Haaland won't be leaving anytime soon it may be an idea to adapt our style to getting the most out of him.
I suggest playing deeper in our own half thus giving Erling more space to run into. It would be a major shift from our high defensive line.. Whether we can continue playing our possession based football 10 yards nearer our own goal I don't know as it would be a high risk strategy.

I agree we need to adapt but i think we just need to play him in earlier, problem we have is that it is only Kev with the confidence in his ability to play that pass - sonetimes Phil will do it when playing centrally

There have been countless times that Haaland has positioned himself for a ball to be played early in to him, but it hasnt/doesnt occur

Thats what needs to change. If we look back at the great David Silva who was a master of splitting the midfield & defence allowing Sergio to be through on goal - thats more of what we need especially to get the best out if Erling

Erling wants that ball played early to him when the opportunity presents..issue we have is having players who will take that risk

Spot on. Immersing yourself in an activity that occupies you mentally takes your mind off the grief for that period of time. Football would be perfect as it's physical and mental for ninety minutes.

Our pattern of play is not working for us . We plod our way up to a low block . A congested box is so easy to defend then the only space on the pitch is the gaping hole behind our back 4 , Rinse and repeat seems Peps only strategy right now and it’s so easy to play against.
