9 | Erling Haaland - 2023/24

I think both Pep and Haaland know he is having a very average season, and that's why he has to play against Luton to get some confidence back. He played decent, a little more involvement, some good runs, a little better pressing.

It's Luton, but he has to regain confidence against easier opponents first.
Average. Is it now 31 goals in 36 matches with 9 weeks injured. Not that bad.

1 goal in 9 games vs other teams currently making up the top 6. He's struggling to impact the big games this season.

He needs a bit of a revamp in this team. Start using his size and putting himself about. Mix up the movement other than playing purely on the shoulder of the CB furthest from play. It's become very one dimensional and predictable so he's straight up getting marked out of games by good CBs.
All not on Erling though, Peps tactics this season are not really helping him and neither have injuries/squad changes. All this has impacted his finishing(confidence?) Keeps missing big chances and shooting straight at keeper when he gets 1v1.

Think the biggest issue is how isolated he is. He gets very little support. No Gundo rocking up from midfield to take defenders away from him. No Mahrez cutting in and rifling shots across goal. Kev another year and a big injury older. A lot less incisiveness and a lot more floated balls into the box.

Can't envision much changing this season but hopefully a summer of signings that fill those voids can help get the big man back to his best

I do agree with that he needs to improve other areas of his game, but looking at his xG compared to last season, the only issue is that his finishing has been a little off. He's actually getting a few more chances than last season.

If he was finishing with the same quality that he has consistently, over the last four seasons, he'd be looking at another 30+ goal season in the PL alone.

He was probably bound to have a drop eventually, and he's of course still young, and his profile has gone through the roof. Now a lot of people think he's the best player in the World, then it wouldn't be a shock to find that he's finally feeling a little pressure.

Let’s be honest he’s not looking like he’s doing great and seems off form.

But, his off form still benefits us a lot.

Not so sure about the social media fans but the ones in the stadium back him and support him miss or score.

I also get the feeling he appreciates it.
