The only difference between tonight's performance and one where he's being slagged off by dozens of people for having no impact is the simple fact that we actually looked to use him. That's what he can bring to the side if we involve him. He can't do it if we don't.

Now that we've got marmoush, there should be somebody who can play a lot closer to him with a genuine goal threat themselves which will make him even better and I'm still convinced Pep has been reluctant to put a gameplan around using Haaland because he feared him being more involved might lead to an injury, the fear around that might not be so great now that marmoush is here and perhaps we can start making him more of a focal point. It's been criminal that we haven't.

I didn't think he was involved much in the first half, but he asserted himself early in the second and we then began feeding him the ball.
The lad is so much better when he runs onto the ball and could've scored with a cracking shot, from which their keeper made a good save, before a great finish for his goal.
The assist for Foden's goal was top notch centre forward play.

Keep getting him the ball and he will produce...well played Erling!

That’s fucking more like it!

At times I think he’s too nice. Nice guy, doesn’t know how big he is, doesn’t use his size, likes a smile and a pat on the back with the opposition. However, today that was an aggressive, bullying performance… with deft touches of class sprinkled in.

I loved his hold-up lay-off to Foden for Phil’s goal, I loved the beautiful dink finish for his goal… and just as much I loved it when he went barging into Cucurella and Colwill, shoving the pair of them and telling them both to get fucked after n’all.

Like Drogba but a far superior version today ironically.

Hold up play was superb. That goal was from another planet.

Rightfully criticise their keeper, but I can only think of a handful of player that get to that ball first, let alone have the quality to make that finish.

He truly is something else.

Quiet first half but once we stared hitting him early secomd half he was a monster. Its so clear what his game is but we never play to it, especially against high lines.
Begs the question why not.
I really do think Pep should mix up our approach more.
Many teams have shown down the years the ability to effortlessly switch tactics during a game ,Pep doesn't.....but then again not many coaches have his trophy haul,so what do I know.?
