I actually think we've been going down hill since he arrived.
Even the treble season we were very lacklustre up to the business end.

It is not his fault however. He's a wonderful striker but I've never thought he's a Pep striker.
For example I actually think we'd have had s better season with Alvarez up front on his own. He harasses defenders.

For me Haaland, who can't be enjoying having 5 touches per game, either needs to leave or preferably we change our style to suit him.

I'd prefer the latter as he's a great character and loves the club.

We need to change our style to suit him . We have the most potent striker in the world so we need to play to his strengths.

Think what we will witness after this season, itbeing the beginning of the new City under Pep that plays to his strengths

We can no longer play the style that has brought us the previous trophy haul - the low block and counter at speed has seen to this. Pep I am sure is well aware of this.

What Pep will do now is re-build the team bringing in players where we will attack fast through the middle to the final 3rd up to Haaland - this wont allow the opposition to get set and put the low block in place (something they can do with ease right now)

Once we get the summer signings in, the new fifa club world cup will see our new style start to kick in, and once it does click in to place we will see Haaland break all goalscoring records

Honestly believe we will - Pep's new vision will be us attacking at pace, whilst also still being able to retain possession when its required, and pressing

The question I have been asking myself is 'has he made us a better team'? In all honesty, I don't think he has. We scored more goals in previous seasons and certainly created more chances. Is that his fault or is it the symptoms of an ageing squad that has peaked? Is it possible to play to his strengths given the low block we are faced with? With two pacy and skilful wingers, why are so few chances created for him from out wide? Is it them or is it his lack of movement? I wish I was clever enough football wise to answer those and I guess the answers will be a combination of all and not black and white. I do know that I am not enjoying too many games played this season and thats not because of the results. Its because of the performance.
For sure, something has to change fairly radically. He is not going to continue to play like this for the next n seasons for sure. Either we change or he changes or Pep changes or all three.

I could have written exactly that. Cheers you saved me the effort.

What really stands out is that I don't enjoy the games now.

Something has to change.

Is it out style or is it that football has evolved and top teams don't use centre forwards anymore? I'm struggling to think of any of the top sides that do
Barca and Bayern definetly do ,but those strikers are better than Haaland with the ball.Haaland against those low block team is useless if we dont start to find him with crosses or he improves his overall game.

To me it’s obvious we need to play him in a 4-4-2 system or a 4-4-1-1 and drop out defensive line and catch them on the break.

Most of the issues with him is we have 2 wingers who just have zero final ball ability to find him (and chip in with goals) and no creativity at all in the side and with the rest of the team lacking also in goals, teams just know nullify Halland= nullify City.
+1
Although I think that Marmoush is going to offer another scoring threat against teams that press us. Against teams that are going to park the bus, Marmoush isn't nearly as effective.

might be better if he went near post sometimes and dragged defenders there for platers to run in behind or maybe score at the near post.

What the fuck happened to his movement?

People can complain about the service as much as they want but when the ball arrives in the box he's just static at the far post. Wouldn't mind but he can barely fucking head the ball anyway.
He initially used to make different runs but nobody used to pass him. Now he doesn't make those runs anymore.
Overall we do not play to his strength.

Least of our problems. Must be frustrating as fuck playing with players who can barely create a chance for him.

On his heels all game in the box it's like he has no belief in our wingers when there is 8 in one area! There was two opportunities where if he was on it on his heels he could have got to a ball for a shot! Aguero was so good at that!

The rebuild is going to be focused on being built around him. It will be about getting the ball to him as fast as possible from defence to attack - removing the low block & current style of our slow build up that allows the opposition to flood their area with players.

This will be our new style. Still being able to retain possession and press when needed though.

Well if Silva stays he will play and that fast break will be killed when he receives the ball he does if every game!

If he stays it will only be to add experience into the team, for the new players help. He would be used as a bit part player.

But then he could be sold, but some of the experienced players will stay for that reason.

We are exactly at the same stage as when Pep first came - just different situation where his squad can no longer do what is required, and Pep is needing to change his style to overcome the opposition tactics we face.

It isnt going to happen this season, the rebuild is underway, it may mean that next season Pep will still be cementing the new style down so we may not win the title but will be closer.
