I think last season he only scored 1 goal as a sub, all the rest came when he started.

Which means he got 22 goals from about 36 starts. It's not that bad. Especially for a still young player in and out of the team.

He is ultimately judged on goals for you. For me he is ultimately judged by how often we win when he's playing, the same as how I judge any other player. Obviously his goals tally matters, but if we played a striker that literally never scored but we won everything I wouldn't complain.
City need more goals in this current team or we will come up short when it matters. We have lots of other players that contribute to the team like Jesus. If he starts up top I expect a goal every 2 games at the very least. He is way off being a prolific forward.

1) Why do we need more goals? We're on a winning streak, in prime position to top the table, in a cup final, and have sauntered through our CL group. Why do we need so much more? It's not like any other top team in Europe is scoring for fun either this season so what does our top tier defence need to worry about?

2) Last season he averaged better than 1 in 2 for the games that he started. Does that not count towards being a prolific forward?

3) Jesus has come up with the goods when others haven't on more than one occasion. Who was it that pulled a brilliant goal out of his arse against Liverpool recently? He's clearly got it in him.

On your 2nd point, you're really ignoring the elephant in the room. Jesus can score when there's plenty of chances. The issue is he can't when they're at a premium because he is statistically a poor finisher. He has underperformed his xG by 16 since joining us. In comparison to a top striker like Kane, he's overperformed his by 25. Kane is an anomaly but top strikers do not underperform their xG by such a significant amount. Haaland, Aguero, Lewandowski etc overperform theirs and actually score MORE goals than Jesus. That's the difference.

Nonsense about he scored 1 out of 2 games since being here is analysis ignoring context.

All valid points. Yes we are on a great run but a few of those games could of ended up like the West Brom result. The margin for error is minimal.

If Jesus could score a few more goal now and in the immediate future we will be able to control games and close them out without having matches were “it’s going to be one of those nights” which last night could have been.

In short: Jesus needs to score goals.
