Yeah, fair point mate. He did score that goal against Southampton, so we should give him another four years to see if he can get some confidence.

Stats aside, what is Jesus' job? What is he at City to do? Tell me, what is 'the wider picture' mate? His job is scoring goals but he's frightened to death of taking a shot.
Runs about a lot, mate.

Tricky situation with Jesus. Due to Kuns absence he was expected to step up and score more regularly with the abundance of chances we create. Obviously he has not being able to become a prolific striker. Fantastic talent and he offers the team so much. It echoes the rodders/fern problem. He will never be Kun and should not be compared. If he is happy to play a squad role it’s a no brainier to keep. We need a top forward it is that simple. He does not fill me with any confidence when we need a goal.

Jesus has over 100 goal involvements at City while playing second fiddle to Sergio most of the time. It's those over 100 goals/assists which have contributed to our success, not just that goal vs Southampton. Plus being the best pressing striker in the world. Last season he was our best player against Real, this season he was our best player against Liverpool, i.e., it's not like he has been involved only in goals vs crap teams.

People make the same mistake as the mistake with Bernardo. But but but Bernardo has contributed 0 goals and 0 assists, why does Pep play him??? Jesus will come good, give it several games from now and he'll deliver.

I hope he proves me wrong but I never see Jesus being a 25-30 goal a season striker who’s consistent with it

Who expected him to? Could it be he is expected to combine with the other forwards to help create more chances and share the goals?

Jesus scored 23 goals last season, and 21 goals before that, while being second choice, with only 3 from the goals in domestic cups. 30 goals in all compets is perfectly feasible if he starts say 45 games. And will be enough for a team that is so good playing with a false 9 in many big games. Remember Sterling, who is widely perceived as a poor finisher, scored more goals from open play last season than Aguero ever managed in a season. And Sterling wasn't close to Jesus' numbers at 22 y.o.

Or you mean 25-30 PL goals? In that case, you probably know that Aguero has scored 25+ league goals just once in his whole career so far, and that was before Pep. Lewandowski never scored 25+ league goals before turning 27. We broke all scoring records in England without having a 40-50 goal-scoring machine up front. That's not Pep. Messi's best stats came in Pep's worst season at Barca.

The issue isn’t the goal involvements he gets when he’s second fiddle to Kun, it’s the lack of goals he gets when he’s given a chance as the main man.

I rate Gabby and think he’s a top player. But he should be played in the wide left position and not as a striker.

Jesus has barely played even 10 games in a row as a striker. He's been in and out of the team most of the time. Unfortunately, he missed 6-7 weeks at the start of the season through injury and then was out for 2 weeks due to covid. That is, he wasn't available for nearly 2 out of 4 months this season. He'll get another chance now, think he will do well.

He is a forward and ultimately is judged on goals. As I have said he contributes a lot to the team which is fantastic but he shld be scoring goals alongside his work ethic.

I think last season he only scored 1 goal as a sub, all the rest came when he started.

Which means he got 22 goals from about 36 starts. It's not that bad. Especially for a still young player in and out of the team.

He is ultimately judged on goals for you. For me he is ultimately judged by how often we win when he's playing, the same as how I judge any other player. Obviously his goals tally matters, but if we played a striker that literally never scored but we won everything I wouldn't complain.
