He's meeting his xG this season, so far.
Yeah weirdly enough KDB aside (who's massively underperforming his xG), most of our team is par for course. Sterling's a bit low and Gundogan is overachieving but mostly it shows that our goalscoring issues are more systematic and less personnel related than people think. Even if we had a striker that outperformed their xG it's unlikely we'd have many more goals.

Jesus is doing himself no favours by going down easily under challenge/tackle. It's something he needs to work on and apply himself in trying to score a goal instead looking for cheap decisions off a referee. He does it almost every game sat on his arse holding his arms up and sulking when he doesn't get a free kick or pen.

He is a very talented player but some aspects of his game he isn't improving. He's been here 4 years now and I think needs to kick on and make things happen in front of goal instead of the majority of tap ins he scores.

Aguero is hard as nails for his size, Jesus is not and I think he needs to bulk up and become as ruthless and mentally strong as Aguero is. Otherwise I can't see Gabby becoming the main striker here.

Sometimes the discussion on Jesus can drift. He is a very good player at what he does and I hope he stays with us for many a year.

This season has shown that he will not be a 30 goal forward. Again, nothing wrong with that. All being said if you want to step into Sergio’s shoes 30+ per season is demanded and expected. That last chance he had today that you mentioned was a perfect example. Prime Kun would of closed the game out.
Totally agree. Good team player and serves a purpose - but we seriously NEED a clinical striker to eventually replace Sergio.

He’ll get 10-15 goals but Jesus just isn’t that guy that will get us 25+. We don’t need to get shut, but we need to find and bring that player in that will capitalise on chances whenever they come. I think he might be Norwegian.

14 PL goals in the equivalent of 22 games last season.
His scoring record is absolutely fine. But we do of course need a no.1 striker because Jesus has always played like a second forward. None of this is revolutionary and the problem really is Agüero with his age, injuries and contract. Jesus is not the issue, the issue is getting Agüero fit or buying an out and out striker.

Every indication is that if Jesus played 90 minutes week in week out he'd get 20 in a season.

Totally agree with the bolded point - contributed so much to the likes of Jesus and Sterling with lower shots p 90 and xg p90 than previous seasons.

Even no-shot Foden in the last game when holding position. Not taking what seemed obvious opportunities to get into the box when attack forming on the opposite side. Same applied with Sterling in big parts of the Villa game - 2/3rds of the time he was holding his position outside on the edge of the box on the right when seemed perfect for him to attack the 6 yard box with the attack well formed down the left.

When we first signed him he seemed to score pretty much whenever he played and there were genuine calls for him to replace Aguero but since the start of last season I’d say his career at city has stalled, much the same as Bernardo did.

I don’t know how he’ll turn a corner but he needs to as I can see city being fairly ruthless with our attacking players in the summer, including Aguero.

Love the guy but he just doesn't seem to have progressed.
Totally agree...the excitement surrounding his debut was fantastic and I remember my eldest at the time grinning from ear to ear after his display even though his effort was ruled offside.

Pep improves every player he works with, no debate.

That excitement though has now been dulled considerably, if he starts or comes of the bench there isnt that feeling of yes he is on the pitch.

My main issue with him is that he always looks like he is playing under restraint, I want to see that Brazilian flair because he actually has it in his locker- there have been times when he has shown it ghosting 2 players etc and you end up getting on the edge of your seat thinking bloody hell Jesus, that's the player we want - confidence issues maybe, but it could be a mixture of things along with confidence.

I have noticed recently that he has made a certain run of played a ball expecting the 1-2 to be played but it dodsnt materialise

He is quality still only 23 as well like Dias....the talent is there. It just needs to be unleashed somehow.
It will click eventually and with his level of talent he has it will be great for us and him

His performance against Real in both games last season was exceptional and was a milestone, scored 2, assisted and even won a penalty so was involved in all 4 goals we scored across 2 games.

Gabby then started this season with a goal against Wolves and I really thought it was chance to stake a claim for the number 1 spot with Aguero injured only for Jesus to get injured himself and was out a while. He comes back from injury, plays a few games and gets covid. Terrible luck but now has 2 goals from his last 2 starts so hopefully he takes confidence from that and continues to score.

Jesus has everything to be one of the best strikers in the world. We’ve seen glimpses of it. Just needs to put it altogether and be more consistent.
