One on one? What about the one on one at the end?
One on one? What about the one on one at the end?
And what about the one the keeper saved which he wrapped in a ribbon and gifted?
People like me? lol
He's under no more pressure than anyone else, even with Sergio fully fit.Its been mentioned that he suffers a lot with beating himself up after missing a chance and it can plague him for weeks. He is under immense pressure every game, Pep will have no problems dropping him for someone else, even if they are not a striker and whilst its not an excuse, that can't help the lad. You can say all you want that perhaps that proves he doesn't have the mentality to make it at the top but I would be shocked if we sell him even if we bring in Haaland. There is no guarantee with anyone.
He of course might be pretty miffed if Aguero leaves and Haaland comes in to leave him no2 again but maybe that will bring the best out of him or Pep will find a place in the team for him anyway.
He needed that goal yesterday, it was scrappy but he sorted his feet out and finished it. Maybe a few months ago that chance goes and we end up calling for his head when it ends 0-0.
It was a good save that any capable keeper would have dealt with. The quality of the save wasn't the debate,or the point of my response though.Fantastic save, if that were Ederson we'd be remarking on how great it was.
He isn’t the worst offender for this in the team by any means - but that’s a different discussion for a different player thread. I agree though that he isn’t the prolific striker we need, that’ll nail down that no 9 position with regular goals.
I think Pep stuck him in today, against Sheffield, in the hope he’d bag a couple against a team we should be beating and kick start some scoring form. He did score the vital goal we needed, but also telegraphed the shot late on - a chance any top top striker (the kind that we need) would have slotted away. Looked like a quality save, but the keeper shouldn’t have been given a hope of saving that.
I hope today’s was the goal that opens some form of floodgate for him, but I’m not convinced it will be.
He's meeting his xG this season, so far.It was an official OPTA "big chance" - the type of chance that top PL striker should bury. Or should they? Even Son has missed 9 big chances this season. Even the best miss big chances regularly.
Having said that he has consistently been our worst offender over the seasons he's been with us - below xG every year.
Still like him though :)
Yeah weirdly enough KDB aside (who's massively underperforming his xG), most of our team is par for course. Sterling's a bit low and Gundogan is overachieving but mostly it shows that our goalscoring issues are more systematic and less personnel related than people think. Even if we had a striker that outperformed their xG it's unlikely we'd have many more goals. He's meeting his xG this season, so far.
Totally agree. Good team player and serves a purpose - but we seriously NEED a clinical striker to eventually replace Sergio.Sometimes the discussion on Jesus can drift. He is a very good player at what he does and I hope he stays with us for many a year.
This season has shown that he will not be a 30 goal forward. Again, nothing wrong with that. All being said if you want to step into Sergio’s shoes 30+ per season is demanded and expected. That last chance he had today that you mentioned was a perfect example. Prime Kun would of closed the game out.
14 PL goals in the equivalent of 22 games last season.Totally agree. Good team player and serves a purpose - but we seriously NEED a clinical striker to eventually replace Sergio.
He’ll get 10-15 goals but Jesus just isn’t that guy that will get us 25+. We don’t need to get shut, but we need to find and bring that player in that will capitalise on chances whenever they come. I think he might be Norwegian.
Every indication is that if Jesus played 90 minutes week in week out he'd get 20 in a season.Totally agree. Good team player and serves a purpose - but we seriously NEED a clinical striker to eventually replace Sergio.

Totally agree...the excitement surrounding his debut was fantastic and I remember my eldest at the time grinning from ear to ear after his display even though his effort was ruled offside.Love the guy but he just doesn't seem to have progressed.

Pep improves every player he works with, no debate.
That excitement though has now been dulled considerably, if he starts or comes of the bench there isnt that feeling of yes he is on the pitch.
My main issue with him is that he always looks like he is playing under restraint, I want to see that Brazilian flair because he actually has it in his locker- there have been times when he has shown it ghosting 2 players etc and you end up getting on the edge of your seat thinking bloody hell Jesus, that's the player we want - confidence issues maybe, but it could be a mixture of things along with confidence.
I have noticed recently that he has made a certain run of played a ball expecting the 1-2 to be played but it dodsnt materialise
He is quality still only 23 as well like Dias....the talent is there. It just needs to be unleashed somehow.
It will click eventually and with his level of talent he has it will be great for us and him
