Go back to 1978. No affinity to Manchester, never set foot in it til I turned 16, earned £15 week's wages and spent it going to watch a team in sky blue I'd fallen in love with watching the Big Match with my dad every Sunday in my Nan's in Northern Ireland. That was beginning of a love affair which still lasts to this day. Even though I stopped going about 2 years ago after travelling length and breadth of the country, up and down the divisions, more recently journeys across Europe my love has never died

Apparently we have over 50 million "fans" now so 99% outside of Manchester might not be far off the truth, as for the match going fans not a chance 99% come from outside of Manchester or more correctly Greater Manchester.

That is total bullshit. As a Norwegian supporter I spend 2.500 pound every year on hospitality tickets for my familiy and friends and shirts. The growth potential in turnover is growing the international fan base.
