A brief glimpse of God and Creation

I disagree. Enforcing beliefs and other systems on people is hard, especially when your number one resource is the people. Without them any state fails. The key to enforcement is not physical but mental. Something the Americans do exceptionally well.
Hegemony offers a 'better' and more subtle form of control I agree. But you only have to look to the fanatical performance of those in the Hitlerjugend divisions in the Second World War to see what just a few short years under total ideological control can do.

Indeed Damocles - yours is a foolish argument.

Religious wars have never happened because of religions. Religion has always been a convenient label and nothing more.[/quote]

So I presume to make a statement such as this, you have a deep understanding of every single war ever fought in the name of religion?

Or are just overgeneralising because it makes you feel better?

Lastly, your point about Stalin/"opiate of the masses" actually managed to quote a post talking about a logical fallacy and use the same one in reply to it. Bravo.

Oh, and BP, the idea that any state without religion will fail is ridiculous. Somehow, civilisation managed for thousands of years without it.

You miss understood me. A country without religion is perfectly fine, but when you have religious background like all the European countries and Arab countries and try to enforce the no religion rules, you would fail. My point is that you can live without religion but ones you have religion you can't force people not to believe. As well as you shouldn't force people to believe. Humans don't like being suppressed and any suppression will be met with resistance.

Throughout the human history every major civilization has been based on religion. Maybe not solely based on religion but religion has played major role in all of the human civilizations. It may have played a huge role in the development of our intelligence. You can trace it back to prehistoric man. Intelligence and religion are intertwined. I am not saying you can't have one without the other, but lets be honest. Religion has played a significant role in the development of modern humans.

If every human on earth has the same mentality and thought process then the world would be very dull. I would hate living in such a world. Our differences are what makes us unique.

Marx called religion "The opiate of the masses". Communism was based on "Das Kapital".

Stalin was just as evil if not more so than Hitler with his Atheist Utopia.

Communism attempted to ban religion, it was illegal ( no court, you just disappeared) to go to church, and celebrate religious holidays. Well we've seen what has happened with communism, any state that tries to do the same will fail.

Indeed. They have no idea what they're up against.

you have said this a couple of times in various threads now like its some sort of veiled threat.

-- Sat May 28, 2011 7:13 am --

Are human beings potential gods? as they have been told, or are they just the least of worms?
The world we live in is a seething mass of contradictions. Life does'nt become simpler with each new achievement, if anything it stays the same as in medievel times, yes we have a longer lifespan now but in my opinion there are far more diseases and little illnesses to contend with and just another way of the Agenda making money, the longer you live the more medicines you will need and the more pockets of the fat cats gets lined, dead simple.

In the "brave new world"(pmsl) we are constantly in a race to just fkin exist, and apparently we are more civilised yet if you take a centuries ago and a crowd of Greeks and you put them against a crowd of todays man, i would say that todays man is an absolute shadow of ancient man, both in principle, stature and so called fashion. We race to out do eachother in this so-called advanced time, more wars both religious and territorial(maybe the same) and definately more inhumane in our everyday habits.

If there are great heights to attain then why the fuk does man know so little about them, after all we are an advanced civilisation yet we havent really progressed as people, if anything we have gone backwards, people think that having a bigger car or a better style of jacket is some sort of one upmanship on the next man, it's a joke how man has so called progressed as again in my opinion, we are absolutely fuk all.

There comes a time in a mans life that he needs answers to the above questions, disease and destruction, religion and stature, well that man will be chasing and chasing it untill the day he dies, and even then, who knows? Nobdy on this forum knows, thats for sure, and if someone wants to preach the good word of HIS lord, or if he wants to believe that REPTILLIANS are running the world, it does'nt matter and for fellow man to chastise the said people is utterly utterly pathetic as mankind going forward, say what you have to but ffs do not castigate any fellow man for his beliefs, unless of course ithe preacher gets his point across via DEATH and DESTRUCTION, which unfortunately in our so called advanced society and far far advanced mankind from years ago, is all to frequent in the name of some god or other.

If people wish to put their personal beliefs on a public forum, then why should they not be there for ridicule, discussion or criticism? That is the great thing about freedom of speech and the reason why it is a bedrock of our democracy.

As for your rose tinted view on human history, I suggest you research a little bit more if you think that we are worse off now and morally bankrupt compared with our forefathers.

A hefty degree of generalisation I admit although none more so than you with your assertions about atheism / communism / war.

Perhaps thats because it isn't a logical fallacy. Atheists are just as likely to kill people in war situations as anyone.
