A debate with a proper rag

i was asked the question on facebook this morning, obviously a hypothetic question (for now anyways) would city have coped with the barcelona 'onslaught' better than united.

i stated that we would due to us being set up better defensivly than united aswell as carring a lot of height, which is something barca obviously lack.

he then got pissed off and retorted 'come back when you have 19'

to which i replied using a joke i saw on here about the '19 touches'

so my question is does anyone think we would of fair better? not nessceraily picking up a win?

The rags mistake was playing with 4-4-2 , if you go up against Barca you need to match them man for man . The rags left one fo the barca midfielders open at all times by playing that formation and they payed for it. If we set up as we usually do , in midfield we would have a better chance of containing Barca. Our forward line is also better than the rags , Rooney and Chcikenshit never got anywhere near Pique and Mascherano . With the likes of Tevez constantly pestering them , we would have better success. Defensively I would say the rags are a better team , because they are fairly solid all across the back line . Whenever I look at our defence , I always feel there is a mistake somewhere waiting to happen . To beat Barca we would have to be at the pinacle of our game and with the likes of Kompany and NDJ at the back and Silva , Yaya and Tevez up top , I think we would have a chance , how big a chance I don't know , we would have to see when we play them . I hope we do play them soon because I feel it would be a tremendous game , even if we got dicked for the full 90.

The way we set up now i think we would have a far better chance of containing them, also our game is based on possession, i couldn't see Barca having 68% against us. Having said that i still dont think we could beat them on their day but it wouldn't be as embarrasing as it was last night ;-)

Our team is set up in a way that maybe would cope with Barca better than most. I don't buy into this "Barca are unbeatable and the best team ever" bollocks.

Them lot were let down by the performances of some of their players. VDS, Evra, Carrick, Giggs and Hernandez probably put in one their worst performances of the season and Park and Wacko Jacko were non-existent.

The rags mistake was trying to playing football against the most technically gifted team in the world. Player for player Barcelona are better in every sense. The rags might be good as a team but not as good as Barcelona are exceptional.

When you have got David Villa tracking back into his own penalty box winning the challeng and carrying the ball forward that tells you what desire is all about.

Personally I do think we would have given Barca a better game because Mancini would have worked out a game plan to stop them playing. With the far superior midfield that we have than our Salford friends we would have stood up to the test
