A level results

I know maybe this should be for the politics thread but every student should be being taught what a shambles this government is and that’s it tried to ruin so many young lives with how they’ve approached this situation and that voting conservative is not the way forward

Late but better than sticking with a flawed algorithm. Centre assessed grades (CAG) will be a better reflection of what a student is capable of achieving as it's based on a number of factors over a period of time, such as course work, mock results and expected progress post mocks. An exam just tests a student on a particular day and lots of factors can affect a student on exam day. CAGs are not teacher only assessed grades. For example, at my school the recommended teacher grade was reviewed firstly in the subject faculty and then by senior leadership (and this moderation did lower grades suggested by teachers, which I know frustrated many teachers as they felt their recommended grade was fair).

No great surprise they’ve changed their mind on this. Independent schools scoring better than others based on an algorithm alone was never going to end well. It’s been the same with every decision they’ve made, eventually HS2 will go the same way.

What is so utterly baffling and infuriating about this is that it wasn't even unprecedented. Scotland went through this exact scenario and came up with the exact same final conclusion a couple of weeks ago!

Dont know what all the fuss is about...students with no idea going to uni, pissing it up the wall with no idea what they're going to do, then leaving and generally doing something totally irrelevant to the course they did. One of mine spent 3 years ' studying ' event managment just so she could organise weddings FFS. She's now doing OK in the insurance sector. If you're bright you'll do well in life, in general, if you're thick you wont, in general.
