Left school with 2 o levels. Got a degree in politics and journalism aged 40. Had a job lined up until a run-in with the law put the mockers on that.As someone who never went to Uni because im from a generation where only the most gifted went, id be interested to hear what those of us with degrees and up think about being in the job market against people with similar qualifications they feel they have not had to work for in the same way they did?
Universities are no longer just academic institutions. So many of the courses are the sort that used to take place in technical colleges or through in work training. Just means that the cost of these courses has shifted from the employer to the employee. Capitalism in action, working for the benefit of all........More than half of young adults go to university now, university used to be for the best and the brightest it's fairly clear that isn't the case these days.
Adult literacy skills are dropping yet university places are increasing, this is all to do with feeding a business rather than improving the education.

Keeps them off the unemployment figures, which was always one of the priorities, but will be much more important in the next 3 years, especially with the lack of overseas students.How many university students are there at any one time? I think it is about 2.4m, bloody ridiculous.
The entire Ofqual board should be sacked along with Gavin Williamson. Both have shown themselves to be inept at their jobs, simple as that. But I won't hold my Johnson.
