The name of the keeper who took one of the tonkings at Anfield...

Barry Siddall.

Ah, that was the goalie for the 5-2 thrashing at Anfield!

Well remembered mate.

According to the book, it was big JC in that day

Siddall played in the 0-2 on Mar 31 '86

I was expecting Real Madrid to be active in the transfer market, but perhaps they are all spent out. Also where are Spurs?

Anton, nobody else of any consequence is competing at the level we are.

That has really struck me this year. Its almost as if everyone else has given up and wandered off muttering "Whats the point?"

The way we are conducting business is seriously impressing the shit out of me as well.

So true, Bob.

Believe it or not, info is harder to come by than of previous. There are actually MORE people privvy to transfer info with the club, it's just they happen to be around the top of the food chain, those smaller fishes, are a little more considered when they are willing to pass stuff on.

It's not so much a stance of 'What's the Point', just let's wait until City do their business, and then we can all get on with it.

We are also willing to take flak for couple more weeks, in terms of squad size, before the selling process shuts a few people up.

Cook no longer needs to have the huge pressure of sealing deals...

Here's a quote from their transfer consultant

Bronzetti revealed Mourinho is keen to sign a player in the mould of Gerrard after ruling out an offer for Inter Milan full-back Maicon.

He added: "Mourinho is convinced to leave Sergio Ramos on the right and now he wants a central defender or midfielder like Gerrard.

"Real did not make an offer for Maicon, there was a request of €35m [£29m from Inter]."

They would also like to use what monies they do have for Cashley.

are they mad or are they mental? i think if we are interested in him that Inter have either upped the price and that is what we're currently haggling over, personal terms Maicon wants to make sure it right, or we're doin deals in order i.e. get mario in, get kolarov in, get dzeko in, get milner in and the Mr. WOW.

-- Sun Jul 18, 2010 11:34 am --

have you heard anymore on the Dzeko front that all seems to have gone quiet? you said you were anticipating 2 forwards coming in and with a front line of Dzeko, Tevez, Balotelli and Adebayor goals will be coming from all over the place.

Interestingly this morning I read quotes from Ancelloti that keeps Cashley at Chelsea and removes ANY doubt about Torres, they don't want him.

The Torres bit is significant as there is now only one chequebook in play and the Wachovia are getting nervous.

City walking away may well have saved £20m (or enough to buy Balotelli !)

Garry and Brian I think I might just kiss you if ever we meet. Xxx

I also read that we're interested in Franco Baldini as a coach, i think that'll be a good move

Dzeko continues to be a mystery, little info has been available since the original leaks out of Germany.

His non-involvment in the World Cup, the length of time since the original approach, the racheting up on price.

My impression formed is that we can either can take it, or leave it. Are supremely confident, or that other iron in the fire is getting hotter.

The interest is very real, according to be own slight snippets.

We want two strikers.

I'm not sure on Torres. He's World Class when he's fit, but who knows if he'll ever be fully fit again and for how long. I think the Dippers have ruined him playing him through every injury, we might be best to leave this one alone for now and see how he gets on this season
