a/o Edinburgh / Scottish City fans re Everton game 24th Sept

Full kudos and respect to you guys.
Nobody can accuse you of being glory hunters, given the shit we have had to endure over the decades, but I bet a few have tried over the last year or so.
Keep the sky blue faith. Remember, even Braveheart was a blue.

Train down from Inverness at 7am.... Get to Manchester about 2pm.... Staying after the game in a travelodge, then back on the Wednesday. I would be going to alot more games, but you cannot travel down and back in one day so a season ticket was out of the question! Afraid my first city game was at Maine road... A 1-0 loss to Charlton! Would go to alot more games if I could Get home the same day!

i'm in edinburgh pal and thats tough enough as it is haha, so i have full respect from someone from inverness, that is one heck of a journey. i normally get the early train (7.45) so i amnt pushed for time and then the 18.16 back for a 3 o clock kick off. its a long day mind and sometimes the trains arent always cheap

Exactly! The problem for me is the train from Edinburgh to Inverness leaves at half 8... I'm sure we could get a few blues from Scotland for one game on the same train!

Agreed we are lucky in the Central Belt as a day return is easy. For Blackburn didn't leave home until 9:30. 10:40 Virgin from Glasgow, quick pint in Preston then 13:30 to Blackburn (Mill Hill) quick pint at Fernhurst in the sunshine. After game, straight out £3 taxi to Blackburn to catch early train and back home for 9:30 and a couple more cans before settling down to watch MOD. Total travel cost for both me and the lad £35 inc taxi.
MCS - if you are ever paying anything more than c.£33 for a flexible day return to Manchester you are doing something seriously wrong. I know this is still a fair chunk of cash but thought you should be aware - if you aren't already!

Nah i don't mate. I spend a while looking for the cheapest possible trains, even if it it involves a longer option or another change over etc. I also book all the trains in advance when i can. Think I booked trains for wigan and ever ton back at the start of July, and booked trains for villa and wolves last month, its works out much cheaper. Going to be longer coming back from the villa game though. Manchester to Preston, change over, preston to Glasgow, walk to queen street and then a train back to Edinburgh. Its. Along journey back but it saved about 25 quid. Whens the next game you're heading down to ?

Virgin trains are actually not too bad just now if you use the best fair finder option. Only takes you to Preston but you can get a cheap return to Piccadilly from there. There is also a National Express bus that leaves Chorlton Street at 1am for anyone going down to Champs League games. Thats into Glasgow though so I m not sure about you Edinburgh and Inverness boys etc.

Ive been using Megabus over the years recently. Spent countless hours on those bloody things! Thankfully now Ive met a great bunch of lads who have a supporters club in Renfrew so should be getting a lift down a lot more.......big thanks to them!

I'm on the 9.52 from Edinburgh for the Villa game.18.16 back does not run now on a Saturday. There seems to be a bigger support from Edinburgh than Glasgow Central. The Everton game the 7.42 was the biggest support I have seen for a City game. The amount of kids has risen as well this season.

Not sure if you know about this yet or not, but North East Scotland MCFC Supporters Club will be running a bus (45 City fans) down to Newcastle game in November. You would have to get down to Aberdeen as the bus starts from here. Let me know if interested
