A Positive from the new euro away ticket system?

Can't speak for all SCs but the one I belong to has its own loyalty scheme where points are gained for attending away matches, requesting tickets for away matches, using SC transport for home and away matches and attending monthly meetings. The people who get the tickets through the SC for games with high demand tend to be people who have quite a lot of club ticket points but not right at the top. The people with the most points tend to get their tickets direct. It seems a fair system because it favours people who go home and away in recent years who wouldn't be in with a shout otherwise. I personally don't use the SC much so have more chance of getting tickets via the club.

I don't think a fan should ever get a ticket over a blue with more points just because they use a certain mini bus or attend certain meetings. if a guy has 10k points but lives in beswick and walks to the game he should get a ticket rather than lose out to a fan on 9999 points cos he attends sc meetings.

here's what I KNOW. not rumour, actually know.

it is 100% the points whores that have caused this. I was told at an earlier euro game that "something" was going to be done. no bombings no security no nothing, just whoring. as it happens there are bi products of this system that make sense i.e. they know who is in the stadium.

we were sat with people with next to zero points in Madrid, they told us directly their supporters club gave them the tickets.

its early days, I'm sure the club will tweak things to make collection easier.

people had better plan their aways cos this system isn't going anywhere. if you can't make the pick up don't book, its a bugger but its the way it is.

I'm not sure how far we take this though. I am taking my grandson today and would love to take him soon to a euro away, as it stands he has no chance, even if his grandma isn't going(like she'd trust him with me) I couldn't give him her ticket. its a shame, he is after all the future of the club.
Well by your definition
  • It hasn't worked, as we both know people in the ground without the required points, or even cards
  • It is an inconvenience for those that don't travel with the club
  • Why didn't they do it for Bournemouth and Swansea?
  • And why the passports and the wristband?
  • And why lie that it is about security?
As others have said, it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and there are other ways they could stop people buying with no intention of going.

Couldn't agree more

Best thing that could ever happen and, it will I think increase home crowds as a result in Europe (season after next when we are back in the big competition). How? I had a Champs Lge season ticket with my kid every year before this one but he could hardly ever go (live 250 miles away) and we could also never get tickets for aways which if it was half term or end of term I would have taken him. Now I will get one again because I know I will probably be high enough up the list to get an away one as not all the 7 or 8000 above me in the points will go. Perfect. Sure others will now think the same
Exactly.

it has worked in the main.
not that much of an inconvienence, has to be if you want to attend.
don't agree with carriying passports to games. nobody even asked us.
the security bit is an add on. believe me its about whores.

I agree. I was just pointing out that some SCs don't just randomly dish out tickets irrespective of attendance at matches.

If it's about people selling tickets on then they should do it here and ditch the passports

Sorry fella but not following you at all and not sure what point you are trying to make to be honest.

I wasn't in Madrid and have made that clear in several posts but was a regular away fan for over 15 years and know how the Supporters clubs work in reality and feel the system introduced by the club is draconian, not fit for purpose and does nothing to stop what it is they are saying it will.

One point I am making is that the scapegoating of SC is reducing our away following at Prem games!

Two, people complained about points whoring and got our new Champs League ticket inspection regime. It's not going away so people need to live with it!

Three, I agree that the main prioritisation of tickets should be according to loyalty points. I would go further and withdraw loyalty points for no shows at home games.

Four, yes there has to be a little bit of flexibility with the above because under your approach Sheikh Mansour might have been denied a ticket (had he been able to go) for the semi for not having enough loyalty points!

Still waiting for you to come up with a suggestion for a feasible way of doing this without collecting the tickets in the away city.
