A rational reason for creating life/having a child

She was trying to push me over to the coffee table this afternoon so she could sit on my lap and use her crayons.

Here's a rational reason. When you're old and past it and no longer contributing to the state through taxes, you will be relying on other peoples children to pay for all the services prided by the state if you don't have your own. Arguably that's quite selfish.

So you'd say "yes dad.. I want to be a part of this.."???

Now, you're being stupid.

If you have such an aversion to existence, why have you created more existence in your children?

You claim we should control our DNA, but you HAD a choice; a condom.

YOU chose not to wear one, so you could have ended the cycle from your point of view.

You weren't "driven to create", you were selfish and created cos it felt great.

Perhaps you should have resisted the urge for the 'greater good'...??!

It's relatively simple i think, the desire to reproduce is a pre-requisite for life to exist. No reproduction, no life. We're here so we have to want to reproduce.

I#'ll live this shit till I die.. I hate the fact I understood "life" after having kids.. (cuw the hypocrite finders... ) As if everyone knows the world at at 23...

Rational reasons.

We are social beasts, we are a species who has evolved to survive, procreation keeps the species going.

In human terms

Because kids bring you the greatest happiness you will experience in life and they will bring you companionship , bring you happiness, give you a focus and a reason to be. Kids can make the boring seem worthwhile.

Kids rationally can be a huge support on old age not only in looking after you but in giving you a reason to live , grandkids seem to almost bring more pleasure than children (all the love and less responsibility and in old age they help prolong and enrich life.

Two things : flip the question look at rational reasons not to have them and compare the rational reasons to have them and the rational reasons not to.

Then start to think irrationally, humans aren't rational they never have been and irrationality is what separates us from insects (though you could question if they have the cognitive capacity to be rational or irrational) and computers) . However good the rational reasons to do things in life most of us do things and enjoy them for the irrational reasons .

I do worry with you posts that you are ok I also worry that you are trying to rationalise things when rationality isn't really there.

Take care
