Where does time go.
What a joyous day this was.
Where does time go.
What a joyous day this was.
Indeed this was a bigger thing for me personally than 93:20.
I've been a S/C holder barring a couple of years with work/CSA since a kid 71/72.
Thought finishing 4th that year & second a few years later would hopefully be the norm.
I never expected that going to Wembley in 76 would be the only tangible success I'd see until almost middle age.
My lad was also a S/C holder and had gone through the education system in Oldham having the piss taken by Oldham fans, fir a y new blues....yes Oldham fans.
I qualified for my ticket in plenty of time and we decided to get it at the time as he'd be on the cusp (he'd missed a couple of Europa games due to work & very luckily I'd managed to find someone off here to use his card for these games which attracted lots of points. As it was he qualified within the last few tickets... restricted ones. Even more surprising he was in the same block as me.
As the minutes ticked down to end the game he came down to where I was and we stood arms round eachother...it was a beautiful moment. We'd both gone though pain as blues & I always felt a bit if guilt inflicting City in him. I cried it was fantastic. Only my second cry after a game the other being Luton.
Suburb day, thank you City & thank you @Pride of Chadderton you'll always be my little boy. ;)
Yeah I feel the same, I was at the 76 final with my dad who passed a couple of years before. It was a poignant day for me too. With my lad at his first Final but without my dad who died 4 years earlier, very prematurely at the age of 61.
Fantastic day though.

One of my biggest ambitions, as wasn't allowed to go to 1981 Final, was singing Abide With Me at Wembley. Job done. The Semi win announced we'd arrived. The Final win announced this was just the beginning.
