A remarkable 9 years ago today!

I was in Bucharest, my company had repossessed a 737 and it was being flown back to Bournemouth that day, for the formalities of taking the aircraft off the airline I had to be suited and booted, I boarded the aircraft like that. En route I changed into my City top and as we flew over London I could see Wembley down below, around an hour before KO and my 2 sons were down there! As we landed at Bournemouth I opened the aircraft door and the first thing I asked was is there a TV anywhere, I was taken to an engineers crew room where there was a small dodgy TV with an aerial that I had to turn to get a half decent picture, and that is how I saw my first trophy since being stood at Wembley in 76 !

Why was Tevez captain and not Kompany ?

Tevez was the named captain at that time. Vinny stood in for the semi as Tevez was injured. Think Vinny got the job officially that summer. Kompany had developed into a top draw centre half under Mancini and become a real leader. Hard to imagine only a couple of years he'd signed as and played as a defensive midfielder.

My lad was also a S/C holder and had gone through the education system in Oldham having the piss taken by Oldham fans, for any new blues....yes Oldham fans.

I don't think I've ever been so nervous watching City in those final minutes defending that slender lead. If we had capitulated it would have been torture facing our rag associates on the Monday morning.

I too remember it like it was yesterday. I also remember Kenwynne Jones on a one on one with Hart thinking it was gonna result in a goal and we’d be leaving empty handed. Sheer relief at the final whistle as I’d never experienced us being in that position with City before. We pretty much bossed the game throughout but didn’t have our shooting boots on. Sound familiar??

I was shitting it every time Stoke got a throw in as Rory Delap made every throw the equivalent of a corner/free kick.
Fortunately the defence soaked up any and all of his flat trajectory throws (Vinny,Joleon and Micah using their height) and any threat was quickly nullified.
