A s**t away end full of tourists

Thank you, and yes we did disagree a lot, and maybe my approach could have been better, and the written word doesn't always translate on a forum.

The biggest question is what is the motivation for cup schemes, from my perspective it's to guarentee tickets and initially it felt like a good incentive, tickets prices capped up until the 1/4 finals not exceeding 25 quid i think, and many of the games were 15 quid against lower opposition and kids for a quid, you joined and you were rewarded, but i think a tipping point was when we played Utd and a lot of fans who were on the scheme got a good deal (rightly so) and the club probably felt they missed out on a payday.

Now you are in the cup scheme and you face the prices with trepidation, Inter Milan being a case in point, the club got all excited and thought wow it's Istanbul all over again, lets cash in, even in very modest seats i ended up with a bill exceeding 100 quid, travel 60 quid, parking 10 quid, for a run of the mill group game, for me the prices are becoming unsustainable, unless i become a pick and choose supporter, which i am not, and season ticket holders are generally not, we are commiting because we want to be there most if not all of the time, it's the essence of being a season ticket holder. I think we are finding that not only match day members are picking and choosing, season ticket holders are making the same choices because the cost doesn't exist solely around the one match, even with your tickets paid it can still become a costly experience.

There can be no club in the league who's prices fluctuate as much as City's, even season tickets within one block can have 3 different tiers, it feels like every game is monetised to the maximum, we as fans should be in partnership with the club, we know it not free, and nor do we expect it, but we do want to come along and cheer the team every week (especially at home) and feel it's value for money, not half a weeks money, but they just don't get it.

Fully agree with all that.

It's the pricing roulette that I hate. Every other top 6 club is upfront with its pricing. At united it's the same across groups of blocks regardless of the opposition. Same at Anfield, plus they all publish cup tariffs at the start of the season. Yes there are swings and roundabouts, so you're paying the same price to watch Ipswich and Southampton as you are for Liverpool or Arsenal. But you know what the price is at the start of the season.

I work for a bank and we're one of those involved in the motor finance commissions case where companies have failed to be transparent about commissions. I don't think it's asking a lot for the club to be transparent, so if you sign up to a cup scheme you have some idea what you'll be paying, not have to wait with baited breath to find out the pricing before each game.

I always ask this question when this gets brought up but can you tell me how I used my four years on City Matters to look after my own interests? Funnily enough, no one ever tells me. And why, if "the majority of blues" have no faith in Kevin, why there hasn't been a motion of no confidence in him in over 20 years of him running the OSC?

Pathetic little gobshites like you certainly don't speak for the majority of City fans. Have you had a vote? You have no idea how much work CM reps put in, or Kevin for the 30,000 OSC members around the globe. You wouldn't do it yourself, yet you think it's OK, knowing fuck all about the work involved, to disrespect people trying to make life better for City fans. \

So tell me again, because I'm dying to know, how did I look after my own interests over my 4 years as part of CM?
I agree with what you’re saying mate, but for me this might actually be part of the problem. If Kevin Parker is doing all these amazing things for our fans, you never hear about it. On a lot of the big issues as well, it’s mainly the 1894 group that you see publicly talking/ protesting about them.

I think it’s Alex from city matters who is often very vocal and has built up quite a good relationship with the fans, but I doubt anyone could name the other city matters reps or know what they do in terms of standing up for our fans.

100% agree with that.

City have also managed to create a situation where the fans now don't believe in the system, especially after the debacle of the Barca fans in the City end, a rudimentary search on twitter and City fans are openly mocking our own ticketing procedure, the club have managed to lose their own bread and butter, i find it extrodinary what is happening at away games, and these are 50% of our fixtures, if folk don't believe they can EVER get near an away ticket it's going to dilute your passion and interest. Above anything else the away allocation needs a firms hands off from the club trying to make a few extra quid, it has to go the fans and within that a chance for EVERYBODY to get a ticket while maintaining a status quo, while making it far more relevant to now. I have in excess of 32000 points, i would have no issue if my points from 2001-2015 went, it needs updating, i would still be in a prime position, while giving those who were not even born a chance to catch up, but within 3000 tickets make some available for members and juniors and young adults, essentially lose the non City supporting hangers on who fancy a big day out, some things are worth more than money

As far as I’m concerned, no away tickets should be available to anyone other than proper fans who qualify them, based on whatever criteria is in place. No player’s or staff’s family. No visiting tourists. No Viagogo or other site scams.

The club plays multiple home games each year where there’s thousands of tickets available, including corporates and boxes/lounges used by the club to host guests.

It is appropriate for those tickets to be used as they aren’t really ruling out people who have spent huge chunks of their income following City.

There’s no reason at all why anyone related to a player/manager/CEO/whoever should think that it is anything like normal to just be given a ticket for any allocation at an away game, apart from those that don’t sell.

If it is that important to the club, get them in the director’s box.

It's happening mate and it makes perfect sense from the clubs perspective. They want to reduce the number of season ticket holders so that we're more in line with other clubs in the league and what better way to do it than to reduce the number of ways you can get rid of your ticket?

Likewise, the away ticket ballot has to happen. This will reduce scrutiny into 3rd party touting because the club will point the finger at the "random" ballot, plus they know that people who go to away matches regularly won't be happy and are more like to jack it all in which will again reduce the number of season tickets.

If you don't think they club are capable of doing this and if you think they club give a shit about what you think then you're seriously deluded. Oh and fuck Kevin Parker
Very harsh

i agree totally, the money the players earn they could stick their families into corporate and it would be loose change, the acceptance that the away tickets are fair game is wrong. I bet those us who started in the 70's and earlier went to lots of away games, it's part of the culture, the opportunity is being denied and it's wrong

All season ticket holders only, but in saying that the points system is fucked up with that, been ages since I done an away, and can’t see when the next will be, but I’ll keep my seat for home games like I have for donkeys years, but Hoo Son Fook and his girlfriend Bish Bash Bosh will soon be in them with their phones at the ready when I call it a day

You know the rules....

You see when folk go on about the club’s allocation of tickets, you know x% to hospitality, x% to under 25s etc., x% to the OSC no one then says but how do the OSC allocate them to the branches.
Yes there are a lot of branches and they need to be allocated. But it would be good if that were more transparent.
I hasten to add that I have no axe to grind in this. When I went to every match home and away and in Europe (oh happy, heady days) I had built up my loyalty points to such an extent that I just applied for one on my allocated day. Which was normally first or second day!
So how are the OSC tickets awarded? Percentage wise, however many you ask for, the distance from the away game as suggested here, or just randomly how KP decides?
I appreciate and acknowledge that KP does a good job for the most part but it would help if there were more transparency. :-)
JMHO
Yes, Sir Kevin does an excellent job. We get 2 for most games (Branch size, 240 Blues). Newcastle is now considered our local game so we got a few more for that game.

It’s up to each Branch how they allocate the tickets. We looked at a numbers /!ranking system but it was too complicated for the amount of tickets usually involved. I allocate the Branch tickets using a combination of whose turn it is and what members have contributed to the Branch. It’s very rare anyone moans, probably because I don’t allocate myself a ticket.

Every ticket is a bonus. If another Branch deserves more, good luck to them. My own opinions is that away tickets aren’t the very big deal they are made out to be and I’m as happy at the Etihad belting out our songs from 209.

I enjoy away games like Newcastle, West Ham, Norwich and Everton where the arguments about away tickets are seldom and issue.
