A thread about protesters

All of it is typical looking down on people , ask every woman in your life if they have been flashed at, harrassed by groups of men walking down the street or touched up in their lives let alone more serious assaults , if they are scared walking on their own after dark , they are allowed to stand together and protest it, you shouldnt have to think about safety any more than men do

This was a vigil, a silent nod to sarah and safety walking home
Agreed Kas. But there are currently in operation covid restrictions. From what I saw, they were widely ignored. Now the police should have anticipated this and decided in advance what they were going to do. Seems to me that there was no real plan, a recipe for trouble. While politicians are urging ppl to keep lockdown rules, it is impossible for the police to have a lessez faire attitude to a demo.
I would have stood back, urged the ppl to leave, and arrested the last bunch who walked away!! Ok, joking but they cannot win especially when Cresida (totally useless Imo) is in charge.

Come on kaz do you really believe that? It started out as a vigil, and ended up nothing of the sort, the police didnt get up and start all the nonsense, they did what they are for and moved, with one hand tied behind their backs to try to restore order

They had every safety thing going , it was a properly organised event , dont see men on here complaining about other people on the streets

And with that i am out , i can do without the headache with this again
I thought the Met contacted the organisers to tell them it wasn’t allowed prior to the event, or am I mistaken?

Which bit of it wasn't allowed aren't you grasping!! They were told they couldn't have it under the current guidelines.

Well that’s just a clear lie and a throwaway sexist comment!

We’ve all been complaining about people gathering since March last year. Protests, beaches, parks, clogging up motorways, moaning about streets being too busy, moaning about runners not giving way to walkers, moaning about families taking up the whole pavement walking side by side so others have to walk in the road to get by them at two metres, moaning about people in shops with no masks and not distancing, moaning about Liverpool and Leeds fans, many of us all warned fellow Blues about how it would turn out for David Silva’s last game and look how it did, and many of us slated fellow Blues for what happened that night.

That’s why I reacted like I did on Page 1, I’m fucking sick to death of seeing it! Everyone just needs to stay at home unless it’s going to work, school, out for food/medicine, exercise, or socialise with however many people it is at any one time (one other person outdoors or one household if you live on your own). It’s simple as fuck!

It was not an organized event. That was cancelled after talks with the police.

Went to London a few year's back, Mr's frog wanted to visit Westminster Abbey, got to parliament Square and there was a demonstration on, let Mr's frog go to the Abbey, and i had a lovely time at the demo, some Chinese people unhappy about something or other, but it was peaceful colourful and a bit tense, with some Chinese men wandering about in suits and earpieces, they looked hard as fuck as well videoing and generally watching the crowds

The police may not be perfect but they don't just move in and start manhandling people for no reason. The girl who was on the news a lot (the red haired one) claims to have done nothing and has no idea why she was arrested yet a reporters account says she was coaxing the crowd with a megaphone with anti police comments therefore in my view as a ringleader and after repeated attempts by the police to ask people to leave they had every right to move in and forcibly remove the ringleaders.
Every protest/march/vigil these days ends the same way with it getting hijacked by people with ulterior motives who latch onto any cause. The police can't do right for doing wrong but in my view are getting a lot of bad press from a situation that they tried to end with negotiations but if people won't listen and given we are in a Pandemic and there is a serious risk to public health what else can they do?

No not her , other footage of one women being pushed off the bandstand with two hands and other pushed about ,it was policed all wrong , women have as much right to ho!d a peaceful vigil , they had masks , stewards , hand sanitiser etc , safe as outside is mainly

Kate was there , no mask , she didnt get bothered as i said in the other thread , the police should have stood off then there wouldnt have been a problem
Kaz, how do these protesters get to Clapham Common/London Bridge ? Tube, train bus? What about all the people they come into contact with who are just doing their job and whose lives are being put at risk because if stupid brain dead idiots.
You were a nurse, why should your profession be put at risk because idiots want to lay flowers?

They didn't, because "Reclaim These Streets" cancelled the event after the high court failed to back them.

They would have had, had the police or the courts agreed to it, but they didn't, so the usual idiots took over and created a problem. I think the police could have been better at accommodating the original organised vigil, and sadly probably better "policed" when the protest "vigil" took place, but once a couple of gobshites get involved the rest is inevitable, and sadly it ruins a good thing. I think that perhaps 70 % of those that turned up were there in support of the girl who died, but the other 30% are there to cause problems with the police, and I'm sure their behaviour isn't appreciated be her family and friends.

Jump forward to tonight's events, certainly not for the girl.

I'm a man, and I feel terrible for her family and friends, and it must be incredibly hard for them watching all of this, but for many these are protests, not vigils, by people more interested in having a go at authority, and that attracts anarchists to join in, and they have.

My concern tonight is that protestors are being restricted from protesting by MP's who are discussing and lets face it passing a bill restricting the right to peaceful static protest because people can block the roads and prevent the publication of the Mail, Telegraph, Express etc.......
If this were law NOW and say 2000 Blues turned up at the Etihad to celebrate us winning the league in a few weeks it will only take a few rags or dippers to complain that the Blues are being too offensive and too loud and the Police have reason to wade in and crack some heads.
Think about it - a few years from now we win the league and have an open top bus parade at 4pm - 100k Blues in the street shouting and chanting - they go past enough shops and offices peopled by rags who complain about the noise and legally the Police can break up the parade.
Still at least no statues will be torn down or vandalised during the parade or you will face a 10 stretch.
Populist fucking joke legislation

The irony.

I’m all in favour of restricting the right of people to obstruct my right to go about my lawful business.
Eg extinction rebellion morons blocking city centres.
