Unfortunately it wasn't just today....been saying for a while. He's the weak link in the back four. He's fine bombing forward trying to support Bellamy, but his primary job is as a defender. He NEVER stops a cross going over from his side...NEVER. He backs off, backs off, no tackle, then the winger just crosses it. What is he actually achieving defensively by doing that? Feels bad to criticise him today when the team have put a shift in, but it shouldn't detract from the fact that as a defender, he is found wanting constantly.

This is exactly my point. Maybe i should not have started this thread so quickly after a fine team performance, however my thoughts immediately switched to Spuds and the threats in their side.

Lennon roasted Sylvino last time out and what with bridge being so static i fear the sequel is fast approaching. He needs protecting, I would be inclined to play zaba in midfield so he can track him all game.

Can we get Neil Pointon back?

Bridge never blocked one cross today, he was awful at DEFENDING, loved the one where he put it out for a throw in the second half. Brain dead !

one of our players were down, think it was SWP, bellamy signalled to bridge to put it out, unfortunetely SWP just got back to his feet and started walking a second before bridge kicked it out, was just awfully bad timing, thats what it was.

I think he did ok today, one thing i don't get is, someone like young is one footed, he always uses his right foot, he never ever once today realised this bridge, he should of shown young inside everytime, he let him play down the wing and deliver the ball in, he should be putting him onto his left foot, it's not hard to read an opponent is it.

bridge was crying out for some support from bellamy today, at times villa were attacking down that side and bridge would have 2 men to mark/tackle. bellers was not his usual self today imo

Bridge was very poor last twenty but good before.

Certainly no worse overall than one of the best left-backs in the country, Stephen Warnock.

I agree that Lennon will rinse him, mind. Important we have Barry back.
