A trip down memory lane around Manchester....

I remember as a kid in the 70's in the early hours after a night out at Tiffany's on Oxford Road, going into Midland Hotel (where Mr Rolls met Mr Royce btw) and ordering two hot chocolates in the lounge which were delivered by a white suited waiter, all 'sir this' and 'sir that' - us in our Oxford bags and platform shoes. Very sofis!

Told my eldest son that as part of 'when I wer a lad...' so he tried it when he was next in town and was told to piss off in no uncertain terms, how times change.

There is a Premier Inn just south of St Peters Sqare, opposite the Midland Hotel. It was on Bishopsgate, off Lower Mosley St, at the bottom of the dip where the office block now sits.
When I worked at The Midland Hotel in the 70’s use to drink there …..back door for afternoon drinks usually with Bootle St plod in next room, after it got knocked down ended up in Cox’s Bar on the other side of the hotel
