The northern quarter. Doesn't sound like anything I remember from oldham st. Was always a shithole. Great chippy on tib st though.

correct. nearby was c and a, hardy's, cantors.

there used to be a music shop with a fuck piano as its sign, can't remember where though. thought that was Oldham street.

Was`nt it called SWANS music shop on Oldham St

There was a music shop on the way to Piccadilly Station up the ramp, IIRC. It was on the same parade as Antonio's Café (now shut.)

sounds about right. I used to gorp at it :)

Antonio's was reasonable enough back in the day but got worse and worse and worse before it shut down. It got to the point where they could fuck a chip barm / muffin up.

When me and my mates first started going to clubs we were 17, we could only ever get into Rotters. Not bad because it was easy enough to walk down from Hulme. Really enjoyed it but every now and again we'd bump into lads from Liverpool or Wigan, etc and the night would end with a bit of bloodshed, usually ours! Happy days

didn't you just love how your feet used to stick to the carpet in Rotters - ahhh happy days

oh yes! I also remember the John Bull which stuck your shoes to the carpet, very salubrious!

Did anyone ever go to the John Willie Lees Cabaret Bar around the back of the Arndale? I went to a live night there once and it was brilliant.

This is a fucking excellent thread folks - thanks for all the memories I am loving reading this - ah sweet memories eh?

Not sure if anyone's already mentioned it, but anyone remember 'Seftons'? Opposite M&S on Cross Street?

Yeah, my Aunt was the landlady there in the late 80's/early 90's.
