Hi does anyone have a list of abandoned matches when being played eg ( norwich 8-9-65) or cancelled match prior to kick off eg (sunderland 12-2-14) thanks

No idea about a list...maybe we should start one

Monday January 3rd 1994 - Manchester City v Ipswich Town

The match at Maine Road was abandoned by referee David Elleray after 39 minutes with heavy rain causing a waterlogged pitch. City were winning 2-0 at the time and won the rearranged fixture 2-1 a month later.

Manchester City 1 Ipswich Town 1 (abandoned after 23 min)

MANCHESTER CITY'S Worthington Cup quarter-final against Ipswich was abandoned last night with the Maine Road pitch saturated by heavy rain. The referee, Graham Poll, stopped the game immediately after the home team had levelled the scores through Paul Dickov, Marcus Stewart having headed the visitors into an early lead

That second one ? Was that where SuperKev was kicked on the head chasing a ball into the area and Poll (spit) said he ducked into the kick ?

Feb 1st 1969 - Newcastle at Maine Rd, it was the Saturday after we beat them in the FA Cup replay in front of 60,000+. The rain was so heavy you could barely see the opposite goal. The ref called it off just after Bobby Owen made it 1-1 a few minutes before HT.

Hi it was amazing how the weather could affect the attendance, the norwich game of 8-9-65 only had 13,235 fans (abandoned half time due to flooding) when it was replayed there were 34.091 .ps i still have my dads program from the abandoned game
