Couldn't believe it when I heard he was 18 I thought he was 21/22 he's a good few years ahead of himself for sure hopefully we're just getting to see what our academy holds for the next 2 years.....

That Rekik is only 16!! When was the last time we had a 16 year old come on???

we've got a good few youngsters to look forward to in a next few years:

Rekik
Razak
Savic
Suarez
Scapuzzi
Guidetti

i`d add harry bunn, and alex henshal, to that list

Wow, 18-year-old Abdul Razak - deemed good enough by Mancini to exit the EDS and become a permanent first team squad member - already has boo boys in the City fanbase despite not being the final product yet and showing potential that has England trying to claw him away from Ivory Coast.

Who needs enemies when you have friends like this?

There is a difference between a boy boy and facing reality.
I have been on this board many years and many more to come so I will bob on in about 4 years time when he is at somewhere like Tranmere

Am I obliged to gush adoringly about every kid who plays for City even if I don't think he's very good.

I would have to be a very obsessed rag for bothering going to watch that crap last night

Mustn't have watched the same game as what most people saw then.

No because a youth team player needs to do very little in order to get hailed the next big thing. He looks ok, he doesn't deserve a whole thread of how amazing he is because he simply isn't. If he is to get anywhere near our team he needs to improve hugely.

Do you understand the offside rule and stuff? Just wondered if you understand the basics of football.

No you're not but consider why he has been skipped ahead of practically everyone else at his level, just like Boyata was, and especially how impressive a feat that is in the year 2011 with the players we have - an indication of just how highly rated he is at the club and how good these trained high level people believe he is.

A player like Chantler or Helan is one who shows no signs of getting near the first team is one you can probably dismiss of having any chance of being good enough to play for this club long-term.

And making a snap judgment on an 18-year-old after a couple of games (even though most were impressed by him) is never wise. People do the same for seasoned pros like Tevez ("worse than Dickov") and Dzeko ("touch of an elephant") and end up with egg on their face.

It's nice to stick up for a home grown kid who's come through the ranks blah bnlah blah, City blood in his veins, fabric o the club blah blah blah. Its all bollocks

He's not good enough. He got caught in possession loads of times, kept doing little feints before the ball arrived which they quickly cottoned on to and took the ball off him at will. Didn't excel at anything.

I'll be surprised if he ends up as good as Dickson Etuhu or even Ishmail Miller

He is not a home grown kid. We stole him from a lower tier team.

I hope we can loan him to Premier League club this January.
The more games he will have, the better player he will become.

Offside is a dodgy one to be fair

I admire your optimism man but your argument seems to be that cos he got in the 1st team he's destined to be a top player.

Somebody make a list of players under 22 say who've played in the first team since the oil money arrived, we'll look at them, and I bet you at least 90% of them will be nowhere now.
