Depends what currency you use and when.

The Robinho cost when up and up according to some press and the pound devalued against the Euro.

It was probably the USD price to Euro that mattered though at the outset.

so 8m per year allowing for amortisation

Sold him after 2 years for 16 million meaning we had a net result of no gain or loss (ie a break even) showing in the books.

Wages don't come into it.

Doesn't matter when they had it, It makes no odds, in the books, the cost is amortised over the length of the contract. Hence the £6m profit on a £22m sale.
