I'm not convinced of his best position yet myself,i think his CDM abilities are very good but playing a bit further forward could suit him too.

We now have hodge as a viable option in that deeper role which further complicates progress and selection.

I thought Hodge looked much better than Doyle in that role, wheras Doyle has those quick passes around the box which we only really see from KDB in the first team. Plus he can shoot if encouraged to do so.

Rowan McDonald is another CDM,is he still injured?

I believe in the majority of games, where we need to breakdown the opposition, Gundogan is currently our best 6.

I think the one to work out is who plays between Gundogan and Debruyne. In the two games Foden has played there this season the games have ended up like a basketball match. I believe our best option would be Bernardo as the second of the three players in the middle because he seems to better link defence and attack.

I also think this is Doyle’s best position, at least currently. He’s been pretty poor as the 6 for the EDS. Hopefully he gets a crack as the 2nd midfielder in one of the upcoming cup games or even in the league against the likes of Fulham or West Brom. The only way we’ll know is if we give him a fair chance. If he takes it then he could stay in the team because that part of the pitch isn’t functioning very well.

Have to encourage Doyle to be creative imo. His game is is all about being dynamic not standing still knocking the ball around.

He could always learn how to do that later.

The kids did brilliantly to win the FA Cup last week,and the reward for the most impressive......a trip to Southampton to play their u23's (in a 5-2 defeat)

Would it have hurt to put one or two on our bench? Just to acknowledge their achievement?

I don't agree,irrespective of the reason for Mahrez's omission,as we still had 3 centre halves on the bench,one of them being Garcia.

I just don't think the kids will ever get a proper opportunity with Pep at the helm.Loans,if they are agreeable.....will probably be their best bet,and that is far from ideal.

Perhaps if Mahrez started putting in decent performances he might deserve to get in the squad . He needs to seriously improve his game.
