I believe in the majority of games, where we need to breakdown the opposition, Gundogan is currently our best 6.

I think the one to work out is who plays between Gundogan and Debruyne. In the two games Foden has played there this season the games have ended up like a basketball match. I believe our best option would be Bernardo as the second of the three players in the middle because he seems to better link defence and attack.

I also think this is Doyle’s best position, at least currently. He’s been pretty poor as the 6 for the EDS. Hopefully he gets a crack as the 2nd midfielder in one of the upcoming cup games or even in the league against the likes of Fulham or West Brom. The only way we’ll know is if we give him a fair chance. If he takes it then he could stay in the team because that part of the pitch isn’t functioning very well.

I'm not convinced of his best position yet myself,i think his CDM abilities are very good but playing a bit further forward could suit him too.

We now have hodge as a viable option in that deeper role which further complicates progress and selection.
 
Doyle is probably best as a box to box midfielder a la Henderson, but we don’t really play with one of them. Hodge is a better defensive midfielder and Palmer and McAtee are better attacking midfielders.
 
Where do people put Nmecha in our Midfield prospects. Sneaked in the team last night. Played in the EFL last season. Has those long legs and rangy stride that many top midfielders have. At 20 he has a few years on the youth cup winning lads, same age as Foden, I think he could sneak a few more games this year.

Ability wise he’s up there with Palmer, but sometimes he can look lazy and disinterested. And he put in a shocker of a performance against Liverpool in the Youth Cup Final last year which I don’t think Pep would have been impressed by. He really needs a loan though, he’s far too good to be playing EDS football. I’m glad he came on ahead of Bernabe though, as I’ve never really been that impressed by Bernabe.

Bernabe is terrible,i cant believe hes even a consideration.

I mean,what could possibly put him in favour......??

Its very odd that he has not been on loan, his older brother has been on 4. Doing well again now at anderlect but at 21 I assume he is playing for a contract elsewhere now.

As for the lazy look - he does have that gangly style that is not so easy on the eye at times. That said i have a suspicion the management rate him very highly.
