As a matter of interest do any of the more knowledgeable on here how far we are to breaking even with the build costs of the academy versus player sales?

Which part of the academy would apply though, it includes the huge 1st team training facilities and the mini stadium. It cost around £200million total and has given us Foden, Palmer & (presumably) McAtee with plenty more to come, it has more than paid its way.

Feels like they are pretty much getting rid of or loaning out everyone over 18 who's not first team adjacent. Palmer and mcatee seem like they might be the chosen ones, maybe Mbete floats around as our 5th CB. But delap and Lavia feel like prized assets and we're looking to move them. Space for the next generation i guess.

I said this in another thread, but the whole EDS basically has to go.

However they go: integrated 1st team, sale (with or without buyback) or loan, they all need to go because they have outgrown U21 football, the U18s basically all need to go up.

So if you look at the EDS roster from last season and see some names that haven't left yet then you will hear about them soon.

Delap's name for example will likely pop up, he definitely needs to get gametime at a higher level.

Yeah. Most of that is required anyway. The biggest cost of the academy is staff, player recruitment and wages. But Foden has probably covered 10 years worth of cost alone. Its a no brainer as long as its done well.

It was literally just Oduroh and McDonald that were let go from the academy, and then McDonald signed a new 1 year contract anyway.

Looks like we just released him. We will get some training compensation but as you know, it's a lot less from another association than it would be from an FA affiliated one.
