As a fellow Salfordian may I commend you on the above.

Strange things occur when you get to Walkden heading towards Bolton though, the accent is very broad yonner in Walkden, but then just before you get to Bolton's boundary you hit Little Hulton and the accent is as Salford as it gets!

The Salford slum clearances' legacy remains.

Kick one and they all limp!!!

How would you describe the Lower Broughton accent Bazzer?

Akin to Brian Sewells! :)

Or Giles Brandreth....

Err, no. The Worsley accent is Brandrethesque. My plummy tones raise the social bar in 217. They should be priviledged to have me.

Well you know how it's hard to interpret your own voice so how would you describe the lovely tones of Lwr Broughton.......? I await with baited breath, lol.

That would be due to going from Lwr Broughton upto Higher Broughton and then onto Cheetham Hill. At least living among yonners now hasn't made the 'earthiness' vanish. Though i do need an interpreter when i go out locally as you're well aware?

I remember doing some work down Lower Broughton I was asked the following question by one of the 'locals'

"eeeeeeargh can ya go in da shop for me mayyyyte im banned init."

Coming from Worsley this harsh tone offended my ears to such a point where I nearly had to ask him to write it down, then I realised that he probably wouldnt of been able to write so I asked him what he said again (3rd time) and I still didnt go in the shop, think he was after nicking my ladders when I wasnt looking.

I have now got used to that harsh tone doing the current job I do and I can report that 99% of people that talk like that have a heroin addiction

I'm sorry I didn't get a word of that. Something about "varnish"?

I'm from Salford a city that neighbours Manchester. Both are in Lancashire.
In 1974 for admin reasons G Manchester was formed of various bits of Lancashire, Cheshire and even a bit of Derbyshire.
I choose to support the Manchester team rather than my nearest one which pollute the area the other side of the Ship Canal from me.
GM is a horrible phoney pseudo-county with no heritage and it's existance is an insult to Lancastrians like me and probably 50% of BM Members.
