Not the bright lights of crumpsall then? ;-)

They disappeared when I left. ;-)

(vomits) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a good mate on Houghton Road near the station. In fact my life followed that line for a while; Radcliffe, Whitefield, Besses, Bowker Vale, Manchester.

You've gone the whole hog and moved your bright lights to Bury! It shirley needed them ;-)

You're right about being in Manchester. Just feels like home. So many changes and yet just the same! Gods own City.

Actually the Duckenfieilds (De Dokenfeld at the time) took their name from the town.

I'm Salford born and bred, I'm sorry but I've never ever heard a Salfordian say they're Manc.

Then again "town" is and always has been Manchester, confused? Yes so am I.

Like most have said accents change towards Little Hulton in the West, Faulsworth/Chadderton in the North, Ashton in the East, however South Manchester don't tend to get "yonners" (as they are oftern referred to).

The South Manc/Cheshire accent is very different to other parts of Manc imo.

Greater Manchester can be depicted in this way......

1. Manchester - Manc Accent
2. Salford - Manc Accent though slightly more extreme and nasal
3. Trafford - South Trafford Accent
4. Tameside - Manc/Yonner
5. Oldham - Manc/Yonner
6. Rochdale - Mainly Yonner
7. Bury - Manc/Yonner
8. Bolton - Yonner
9. Wigan - Yonner
10. Stockport - Manc/South Manc/Cheshire

This is a definative guide, FACT.

As a fellow Salfordian may I commend you on the above.

Strange things occur when you get to Walkden heading towards Bolton though, the accent is very broad yonner in Walkden, but then just before you get to Bolton's boundary you hit Little Hulton and the accent is as Salford as it gets!

The Salford slum clearances' legacy remains.
