Adam Johnson discuss.....

hes a little two old to still be considered potential..in 4 years hell be considered old at his position..he should be on the top of his game cuz if there was any position that was wide open for grabs on our squad is was winger and he didnt take the chance..we need a proper consistant winger *cough* gareth bale..

Johnson is very rarely played in his best position, left winger, so its not really a wonder that he doesn't always play as well as we might hope.

Mancini prefers his width from the full backs and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The future for AJ depends on how successfully he can adapt to to the AM role Mancini prefers in his setup.

Overrated by other fans.

Very underrated by City fans.

Someone labelled him lazy one day on here and everyone bought it. If you actually watch him, he's up and down that line when he plays (not saying he can defend, but definitely tries).

I've always rated him but rate him even more when you watch all the goals back this season that he's been involved in. Some brilliant assists and even better goals.

Not read all the replies, but I'd describe him as 'frustrating'. He's clearly got talent, but doesn't seem to take his chances when he has the opportunity to shine. Like he'll come on like 70+ mins and be walking back like he's played the whole 70 already played, whereas he should be helping the potentially tiring full back. Then other times, he'll come on a set up a few chances and maybe even get one himself. Just hope he gets the chance to prove he can be quality/vital player for the team

He does a few things very well:

1) Comes in off the right wing and bends the ball into the far corner with his left peg
2) Tricks the full back into thinking he is coming inside and takes him outside and gets a semi-decent cross in with his right foot
3) Likes to clip the ball between the TWO defenders if a second player comes over to double him up. Often gets a free kick out of this maneuver if he does not get through the hole
4) Make the run across and through the back line for the penetrating pass from midfield (Scored a few like this for City and England)

End of!

The things he does NOT do as well as a 25 year old "international" should:

1) Play more than 30 minutes
2) Defend and support his full back (although this improved DRAMATICALLY late in the season)
3) Deliver (as in cross or play) the ball to where it is needed WHEN it is needed, because the strikers have to time their runs BASED ON THEIR EXPECTATION of when the ball is coming in and he does not seem to READ THE GAME as well as he should be able to do.

He has ONE MORE SEASON, at most, to impress at City or he will be moved on, and will WANT TO LEAVE....maybe even in January, although that might depend on Europe. He is too one-dimensional to be given the leeway to not perform at the top of his game at every opportunity.

He was not expensive and we will get at least our money back on him.....and he will quickly realize he should have done more when he had the chance at City.

I hope he spends the summer wisely (á la Ireland's pre-seaon regime) and comes back a stronger, fitter and better player, because he COULD be an excellent player.

Just watch him play he´s lazy compared to the other lads in team, he looks tired after a few minutes, which is baffling considered he´s proffesional fotballer. He has talent, but it means nothing if you don´t have a good attitude to with it. He dosen´t work hard enough and is tactially naive, that´s one the few reasons he dosen´t play often. He often scores late goals when the opposition are tired after the likes of Nasri, Silva, Aguero etc has run them ragged. The positives are that he´s English, can play on both wings & is left footed.
Watch him start against good opposition and he will disapoint. I would like to see him succseed here but probably it won´t happen.
