I agree with you. Someone who jumps out from behind a bush and rapes someone is only likely to get about 7 years. So Johnson's sentence of 6 years for touching and kissing a 15 year old is in my eyes, laughable. If it was a 10 year old,for example, I would be inclined to agree with it, but for a 15 year old this sentence is a distinct lack of proportionality.

But that's the sentencing guideline for the offence. For a Category 1A rape with similar aggravating/mitigating considerations he'd probably get about 16 years.
 
He's stupid for doing what he did, the law is the law. Can't do the time then don't do the crime. In all honesty though most 15 year olds are out shagging around these days, she probably would have still wanted to do shit with him even if she was 18/19. I remember when I was in school a couple of 15/16 year olds we're going out with older lads around 18/19.

Not making an excuse for him, a man his age wanting to have sex with 15 year old is sick. With that much money he could've slept with anyone, what a daft twat.

I think it's the grooming aspect that makes it a longer sentence. If it was a family friend who he'd got to know and they liked each other and stuff just happened, I doubt the sentence would have been particularly long. But he clearly used his position to pressure a young girl into sexual activity that she wasn't entirely comfortable with. A more appropriate comparison would be a teacher who pressured a 15 year old student into sex. Looking at examples of that, they tend to get somewhere around the 2 year mark. So Johnson might be able to appeal and get it reduced. Although personally, I think it's about right, when you take into account the fact that he'll be out in half the time.
 
Some people are condemning what he did while hoping he's raped in prison, all in the same sentence. Bluemoon is funny at times!
