This is not my argument and I am not seeking to express a moral judgement either way. But just to point out, your comment above is incorrect. In Gemany a 65 year old can have sex with a 14 year old girl and it is perfectly legal. It only becomes illegal if the girl makes a complaint, AND the man is proved to have exploited a lack of judgement on their part due to their immaturity.

If there is no complaint or no exploitation is proven, there is no offence.

I was under the impression the complaint didnt have to come from the girl, it could also come from a concerned third party like a family member, friend or the school teachers.

Thing about whether they will sue him is if he has misled them by pleading innocence prior to his trial, thus them sticking by him and paying him for another 6 months, only for him to plead guilty. In that circumstance they could claim they would have sacked him earlier had they known he was guilty and thus he has defrauded them. I'm not a legal expert but I could see why they would think they had a case.

If they sue Johnson then its completely irrelevant what he did. Mutu was sacked for drug related reasons and Chelsea probably would sue Johnson if he played for them. Especially if he misled Sunderland as the above quote says. Certainly looks to be the case.

I would doubt they`ll sue him.Its now saved a fair wack on their wage bill and he`ll lose (as has already happened with Adidas) all his sponsorship deals.Can`t see it myself and I`ll be surprised but you could be correct.
