Adam Johnson is our 3rd best player.

He's not going to be sold, why would he be sold in January unless he was a major disruptive influence to team spirit with his bitching about being played ? (which I don't think he is, but if he was, good riddance).

Mancini clearly rates him ENOUGH to keep him on IMO, even if he doesn't rate him as highly as AJ himself thinks he should be rated.

but he isn't the third best player at our club. Tevez, Silva, Balo, Kompany, De Jong, Kolarov are all players that have proved more than him (though a couple play in positions where it's nonsensical to compare)

He hasnt kick on from last season. To be fair we got rid of better footballers than A Johnson. The thing is he needs to fucking sort his head out big time. Just because he got a couple of games for England doesnt mean you are first pick at club level. Progress is what every footballer has to do when they are in there 20s and if you aint good enough to work at your game a more hungry player will take your place.

He has a lot of parts of his game he should be trying to improve on. Sadly I cant see him being the player that we all wanted him to be. If he changes his attitude then maybe we will see a different type of player and he might get a run in the team.

He is right because on the back of my home kit (blue) I have tevez and on the back of my away one (dark blue) I have silva and then on my 3rd kit (White) I have A Johnson.

He's quality and has a great future but to say he's a better player than Komps or Nige is a bit ridiculous. He's flashier and more exciting but he isn't the 3rd best player we have. Not by a long stretch.

How fickle are some of you?

Couple of months ago he was the best winger in the league and would've won England the World Cup, now he's shit and you want him gone?
I stated in the summer he was the most over-hyped footballer for a long time. He has a few tricks, can do a couple of good things in a full 90 minute game but at the level we are heading to and are at now, we need players who contribute a lot more and have an effect on the game more than AJ does. He simply cannot effect enough of a 90 minute game to justify inclusion from the start. Weather he can learn to do that remains to be seen. In a completley different set-up he may have more chance [he'd suit Rednapp's style more] but in Mancini's system he will not get too many chances. It's up to him to show in those games where he does start that Mancini must play him more. The ball is in his court in that respect. The best players take their chance, sadly AJ hasn't, but no way should we sell him, for as an impact sub he has some positive attributes. I see him in a similar light to lennon and SWP, some natural abilty but not too much footballing nouce to make the step up to where Silva is [for example].

I would love to see him stay and grow into the team. I think we have enough experience around him to not have to worry about a team of kids 'potentially' finding their form. I think he's good to watch, more often not afraid to take on a man (or two), has a great shot on him, and can just be a good player for troubling defences. Quick feet, good touch, cuts in and out. He can sort the cut-in predictability with experience, possibly even just this season. He just needs to show he can have as much impact when he starts, not just when he comes on with 20 minutes to go.

I think it's wrong to write him off because of the Mancini 'system'. We can't just have one single system or we'll be figured out by Christmas. We don't have to cover every eventuality from Barcelona to Stoke, but there's also little point having 2 identical sets of 11 players just for the WW attacking fullback formation. I think he'll stay, and I hope he puts as much drive into his club football as he seems intent on doing for his national game.

He has a number of flaws in his game that he has to set right in order to become a better player:

- He has to stop hiding behind the opposition's players and make himself more available to receive the ball. His positioning and moving sometime suggests he is too shy to get involved in the game. (Take note of Silva)

- He needs to start putting in a defensive shift. I mean not by mindlessly shadowing the player back to our half but actually getting stuck in and tackling. (Again take note of Silva)

- He needs to start coming inside searching for the ball as due to his lack of movement he often gets isolated out on the wing and is rendered completely ineffective. This does not help the team.

- He needs to learn when to shoot/pass and really work on the quality of that final ball.

I could go on but there are a lot of elements of his game that he has to improve to get near our first team. On the other hand his control, first touch and dribbling are quite fantastic, he just needs to work on the rest of his game.

To say he is our 3rd best player though makes me think that you are:
a) On the wind up
b) Non city fan
c) Pretty clueless about football
