Adam Johnson: Joining Manchester City is bad for your career

Stable relationship , kids usually = better performances once you have a few seasons of experience.

Once Johnson finds this you will see more consistent performances from him.

I was the same until I settled down , you have more structure and reason in your life to do better.

Of course once the zing goes out of the marriage and the kids leave home well thats another matter (LOL) but Johno will be well retired by then.

As for his comments they are probably close to the mark but RM likes players who all well rounded in all facets of the game and only plays those that don't when he has to.

Don't get me wrong I was happy for Johno to stay and if he wanted to Mancini was happy to keep him but he would never play as many minutes as Yaya , Silva, etc etc.

Its better for his England ambitions for him to move on while he was young enough but he is limited so I don't expect him to set the world on fire at Sunderland either.

Such a shame, he came with a lot of potential, but didnt like the idea of putting in some hard work, Mancini like's it if you can fill a couple or more roles in the team, simply something which Adam Johnson could'nt do, ended up believing in his own hype...................

Another non-existent 90 minute performance by a perennial media myth of a player. Maybe had he come on for the last 10 minutes he might have had a good game because that's about his only time to shine. I don't know if Sinclair is an improvement (would help if Sinclair got some game time, is he injured?) but there are dozens of better wingers than Johnson in the world.

Some quotes from Edin Dzeko on being a squad player. Notice the difference between the two attitudes:

"There's myself and three fantastic strikers so obviously we can't all play at the same time," said Dzeko.

"So sometimes it can be difficult to find your rhythm. You could play one game and then be on the bench for the next three.

"I think confidence is the key to playing at your best, of course. Plus the more games you play, the more goals you are likely to score.

"But, as I say, with many good strikers at the club that's how it's going to be. As a player, you accept that and just try your best each time you play.

"That's what I do and will continue to do. I've always wanted to stay at City and fight for my place.

"My motto has always been, 'Never give up'. I hope the City fans who have always been fantastic towards me have seen I can score important goals for the team."

this. and i also remember him saying 'Of course i wish to play more but the team performance is what's important' or something along the lines, its in one of those articles on the OS after the fulham game. top lad, edin.
