Eastlands giants improve offer for Boro winger


Sky Sports News understands that Manchester City have made an improved offer for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.

City made a move for the talented 22-year-old earlier in the week, only for Boro boss Gordon Strachan to reject the approach.

Former Celtic boss Strachan confirmed the verbal offer, but stated he expected the out-of-contract winger to stay at The Riverside until the summer.

However, Boro's resolve has been tested further with a new and improved offer from Eastlands as Roberto Mancini looks to sign the winger.

Although Johnson is understood to want the chance to hold transfer talks, Boro, for now, hold the key to his short-term future.

Get him, he is a fantastic talent. Not only in the Championship but he had plenty of good showings for Boro's woeful Premier League team last season. Already better than some overhyped wonder boys (like Walcott), he could instantly slot into the first team squad.

a good 3 or 4 months playing premeir league football for City and he could book himself a seat on the plane to South Africa....better player than Downing IMO. Hopefully we get the deal done and he can help push us into 4th spot for the end of the season.
