Adam Johnson

Read thru this thread and no-one has the answer. Fact is - he's a 'homer' - only ever does anything at Eastlands. Think back since he's been at the club, all his best performances & most of his goals are in home games. Tommy Docherty (rag) once said he only judged players on their away performances before he signed them. A lot of sense in that if you think about it, says a lot about character. Maybe AJ is lacking some.

I remember him scoring a scorcher of an equalizer on the road 2 seasons ago. The truth here simply is this, we have a lot of players who need everything around them to be right for them to play well.

Adam Johnson, James Milner, Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott, Kolarov, Balotelli, Jo, Edin Dzeko, e.t.c.
Really we only had 4 consistent players last season. Kompany, De Jong, Silva (after the first month), and Barry (Yes, even if folks don't rate him, his game was consistent). Yaya and Hart were consistent but not all season. They both had some major hign and some real lows. But overall showed some consistency.

Frankly the common denominator in my opinion between those who perform consistently well and those who were a crap-shoot, is a "football brain.' We just have too many players who just don't seem to have a high footballing IQ.

They all have qualities that they are great at, and makes them competitive at the highest level, and even sometimes fukking dominant if everything plays towards their strenghts. But by and large we have too many guys with basic tactical or technical hiccups.

We need more SIlva brained players. Aguero for example is all nice and good, but when he lays of for an obvious give and go (and yes I am purposely using the american expression :P) and his teammates chooses to turn and drive into traffic, grumbles of Aguero isn't that good will start in earnest.

Actually a good example was watching Di Maria for Argentina, his poor decisions consistently killed attacks before they could even develop. ANd when he played on the left of the 3 midfielders, Aguero the forward ahead of him was just starved for anything decent. We have too many Di Maria's on our squad, and not enough Silva's. :(

AJ is an wannabe Arjen Robben, playing the exact Role without Robbens Impact. But the missing part on this is an working Midfield, where even Fullbacks count. If you have a De Jong, whos Role is clearly defined as an Game Destroyer, you need another creative Part at his side which is in Gareth Barry not that case. It makes the Defence Stronger, but it takes a lot from the Game creativity and the Strikers need to move more. If you take the Liverpool example (Barry with Yaya) where Yaya couldnt fill the Role because bout hes poor defensive Movement. That defensive Part is building the Game and making the Gameplan. However players like Johnson und Silva are there to connect the Game, they need to ave that creative look and movement. Adam aint ready for this. Hes a player who need to left outside so that the Team works for him, exactly how Bayern did for Robben under van Gaal.

--------------------- Tevez

----- Silva---------------------- Johnson

--------Barry ------Yaya --- De Jong

Yaya is making pressing here, but also filling the Position behind Tevez, while Silva and Johnson hold their Positions.

He's been disappointing so far this preseason. He should be having a field day against the MLS defenders. What's the problem?

Well, it's preseason. What's the problem? He might have a fantastic season.

This does look balanced.

Not as good as he think's he is.

heads gone up his own arse and he's turned into an arrogant big head.

he's a game changer, an impact sub.

i wouldn't put him anywhere near a starting place, unless we were that short on numbers.

Um. Just reading back through the posts before your post, I can't see anyone who has actually said that, so it appears, you did actually make it up. :S
You, detective you :P

Is AJ the new boo boy? 'cos if he is, I'll pass. He's still young and still has time to learn.
