8 goals and 8 assists in 39 games plus a couple of penalties won is a good return. Huge year for him though as i view him as more of an impact player, needs to do more when not scoring or assisting and also needs to at least double his assists for the ability he has.

I'm agnostic when it comes to Adam Johnson. Please can anyone just state a replacement that who would be approachable and a huge improvement on Adam johnson?
Btw, if you put a gun to my head, I'd tell you that AJ's ability to beat a man is up there with most due to his dribbling skills. His delivery's is good maybe slightly more. The problem is his pace. He's got pretty quick acceleration but, in the modern game, unequivocally DEVASTATING pace is just far too useful to ignore. Look at G. Bale and Lennon.

1. It's only pre-season. Darret Bent scored about 12 goals one pre-season for Spurs but was shite all season for them; Kompany looked a bit dodgy last pre-season but was brilliant for City all season. 2. Adam Johnson isn't particularly that good anyway. We played Leicester away last season and he just blended in with Leicester's championship players, and he's never had a good game against ACole Evra Clicy or Baines! He's just a quite slow, quite tricky player who can be very average or turn a defender inside out.. nowt special!

We had the worst crossing accuracy and conversion rates in the entire league last year, but I think a lot of that is down to the way we are set up, with our wide players selected on their 'wrong' sides and asked to cut in. Think of Adam's goals against Juve and Newcastle.
With this set up, we are dependent on the full backs for 'natural' width and crosses, and in this respect, Micah and Kolarov/Clichy need to improve the quality of our wide deliveries significantly this season.
I believe this problem also adversely affected Dzeko, for what it's worth. Why buy a traditional number 9 with nobody able to give him decent service?
AJ will be fine. And when you see what the likes of other young England internationals such as Henderson, Jones, Carroll etc went for, we should be demanding at least £25m if we decide to let him go.

His problem is not his pace. The problem is that he refuses to get involved in the game and goes hiding behind players. If he took a leap out of Silva's book in that area, he would be fantastic. But he seems to go hiding more and more as time goes on. I just don't get him. He plays a pass and then 9/10 remains static rather than looking to give the player an option that he just passed to.

Are you or are you not suggesting that an AJ boo crowd is forming due to people deluding themselves into SWP being the answer?
I think SWP in no way shape or form will fit into our style of play. I don't know what SWP has to do with anything in this thread but that is you just generalising.
Can you honestly say to yourself that AJ has not been underperforming for the last 6 months?
