Adam Johnson

This is what I was trying to get across. He is becoming more involved in general play.

This is his involvement in passing in the 3-0 victory against Villa last year:

And this is what he did today:

Nearly twice as many passes and a far higher completion rate.

His weakness for me was always that when he wasn't dazzling, he was a passenger. So I'm very glad to see him becoming more involved throughout the game.

He won't ever be a left-winger at this level as he lacks the pace to win races. But he has a real shot at becoming an all-round final third player.

This is why I love Bluemoon. Come upstairs from watching Linker et al trot out their usual meaningless platitudes/opinions of penalty replays with no insight whatsoever, to read an insightful point based on actual research. Good stuff.

Top post and just saved me the bother of typing out a long drawn out post.

AJ played well.the team as an offensive unit played well,he is more of a team player now,he links, moves, takes players away to give others more room on the ball and more options when releasing the ball. He is a far better player now than when he arrived, tactically speaking.

He's not the dribble dribble cross shoot player of old but a more rounded footballer.

What i did like: Taking a player 1 on 1 he seems really dangerous with speed and good dribbling.

What i didn't like: Poor finishing ability and vision. Sometimes he tries to take on roles of Silva and Nasri and fails to connect with his passes.

So i think as the OP already mentioned i think he would do much better as a sub, coming in when opposing defenders are a bit tired and all.

An excellent post.

I was surprised by the negativity towards Adam on here after the game, so I paid particular attention to his contribution when watching the match again on Sky. It confirmed my concern that there are too many posters who need to have at least one City player to complain about.

The City performance was generally of such a high standard it was more noticeable when those standards werent achieved. I think your comment is a little unfair on many of the posters who have tried to make constructive criticism in a positive way, credit to the OP who said this wasnt about AJ bashing. Surely the whole idea of BM is to enable fans to exchange honest views about the club and it's players.
