Adam Wharton

And crucially, both were arguably world class when we bought them. KDB certainly was.

Yep, made it all the more laughable the slating our club took from the tabloids and on soccer Saturday for the fee we paid.

On form and ability he was probably a top 5 midfielder in world football already when we signed him, that's how good he was I watched a lot of Bundesliga and other European leagues back then, honestly KDB is the best midfielder I've ever seen play in that league if not the very best player.

That is no exaggeration he was world class and outstanding every single game I saw him play for Wolfsburg, if I'd had a an account on here at the time I'd have been amongst the loudest in favour of his signing.

It's disturbing the amount of people who wanted actually Pogba over him, when I've seen the old threads when they've popped up some slates his possible signing and had clearly never watched KDB play.

We must make sure our next crop of players are absolute mustard from the off, maybe we plan a whole midfield overhaul in the summer but we certainly need more than just Wharton even if the talent is there, the last thing we need is for some promising kid to becomes a potential scapegoat because of the pressure surrounding his transfer fee.

I mean I can't say I ever watched him in the Bundesliga, but even a cursory glance at the stats and the fact that he won the POTS over there while playing for Wolfsburg should have told you everything you needed to know. But no, most English pundits and journalists couldn't see past the fact that he 'failed' at Chelsea (just like Salah did).

I don't really get the obsession with buy backs, have we ever used one or planned to use one, other than that right back who we sold after one season and not playing him? (Can't remember his name?) Plus I'm not sure a lot of players would want to come back.
Angelino the LB, but no tend to agree doubt we'll ever see one triggered and pan out. Just an option to have.

I watched a lot back then nowhere near as much nowadays, he was a player where seeing him play made you more of a believer than the actual stats.

Had the rags signed him at the time he'd have been the signing of the century in the tabloids or sky sports news, like they tried to make out Henrik Mkhitaryan was the rags version of KDB loved hyping him up, Mkhitaryan also had great stats in that league too but the difference on the eye test was night and day.
