Adam Wharton

We bought Reinjders to do the things prime Gundo used to do. He can do that. I agree our defenders can’t break the line like Dias but if you look at the way we wanna play. We don’t play out from the back anymore. We’re asked to win balls in the air, get the 2nd ball, fast movements to release Haaland and later Marmoush. They can’t be similar to Reinjders or Nico G imo. They have to be different and offer something we desperately need.
No Reinjders is nothing like that. He is someone that arrives late in the box or powers through the mdifield. The goal today is typical for him.

Players like Wharton and Larsson can spread the ball wide or find that pass from deep. They are also more tactically aware to play further down in midfield. Laporte could compensate with his passing ability in the past. Nico perhaps was intended formthat rooe but lacks the ability.

Okay sell Nico G and get your Larson or Stiller.

Would prefer long term solutions.

I personally think if Wharton come in it would be as a backup/ successor to Rodri, we have the like of Nypan, Nico O’Rielly and Echivery for long term midfield prospect but I’d love to see us spend big on Wharton and Nico Paz.

The lad needs a season where he's relatively injury free. He started 16 games in the league for Palace last season - he's not getting a move to a "big" club unless he sorts his injuries out.

They're just the most vocal at the minute (no surprise). I'd be surprised if they got a free run at him next summer. This summer was tricky for us in terms of squad quotas but that shouldn't be the case next summer,
Tbh I do think we should be aiming higher that Adam Wharton as he isn’t elite .

We rarely if ever sign ‘elite’ or ready made world class players though (Haaland and Donna recently). It’s his potential, to turn into an elite player that’s making us interested

He absolutely is.

I’ve watched him closely since I clocked him beginning of last season. He’s got the lot. Intelligence, reads the game brilliantly, superb defensively, great vision, lovely weight of pass and one thing that’s very, very rare - is able to play forward with his first touch.

Already the second best CDM in the PL. Going to be world class.

Really developing in to a class player. It is nor just English hype with him I believe he can excel under Pep
