Adebayor for me was very poor

the negative comments about ade on here are unfair. Its all about service and unless he is supplied with quality ball his ability to attack is limited. He then ends up playing too wide, essentially chasing the ball. I'd love to know what the fooker is always smiling about though, I could do with a laugh

When Adebayor plays we play with only one striker. Why he wants to play as a second winger is behond me. He was shocking last night, and all though beating Dawson and King in the air is tough, I dont think he won one ball at all. Poor poor form and I wouldnt be bothered if he is part of the clearout in the summer.

Peter Crouch FFS was a million times better.

For some insight ask Magic Johnson although it might not dovetailed with Ade's reasons;
The smile definitely helped, and also the common sense of business helped. And having, again, a good strategy and a business plan helped. But my mom blessed me with a smile, my dad blessed me with the work ethic, and I combined the two and here I am today.

Player for player i think we are quite well matched with Spurs but they are a better team than us.

The main differences last night was both teams went 4-4-2, but thier fullbacks were better than ours, again ours didnt stop most crosses coming in.

Both teams had 2 wingers but the 2 in the middle made the difference. De Jong- ball winner as he is, thats all he can do but Huddlestone is a better passer, can tackle and better going forward and Modric has the flair. Notice the space they had and how closed down we were when we had the ball, and we are the 1 with 2 defensive midfielders.

Also we have 2 forwards, they have 2 strikers.
When they played balls into the box, Crouch and Defoe were always there, in the box and 6 yard area waiting to pounce. We had Adebayor more or less everywhere but, ie left wing, and Tevez anywhere from the half way line to right wing to edge of the area.

For me, thats been the difference this year between city and spurs. Both very good teams but they edge it. We all know we need some new midfielders to link defence and attack but we need that stay in the box striker for me, + crying for some creativity.

Ade's STRIDE & PACE frightens the bejesus out of CBs' when a ball is 'split' between them or chip over them (Vieira's come to mind) for him to finish with his awesome STRIKE RATE.
Contrary to some of the numpties here, his heading ability is also awesome (score some headers emphatically this season) and much maligned. Its a credit to him that he has the nous to use his head wisely.

Now, do we want to have a CL team with top talented players who can play like Barcelona or a team that gun & run?
Any coach would not encourage balls to be hoofed or thumped to our lone striker upfront if we have much talent as Ade, Tevez, AJ, Bellers, SWP, Vieira, Robinho (if he returns) to 'attack on the ground'.
Its chumped league stuff if we continue to thump the ball upfront.

Now, Spuds or AV's CBs (Dawson & King, Collins & Dunne) forte are headers which they can clear 95% of the time. Their specials are 'elbows and jabs' to knock opponent strikers (whose backs are towards them) off balance. Remember Jonny Evans' bruce lee special ala Drogba or Vidic elbow to Torres' back? John Terry's noggin special ala Kuyt?

We beat AV because City didn't played to their defensive strengths. We lost to Spuds because we played to their defensive strength with them parking their bus.

BTW Crouch's goal was a header from a cross from our left flank & not hoofed from their half!

hahahahahahaa mate if thats them parking the bus,i want some of that!!!!
they outplayed us all over the pitch, every time they went forward it had danger, danger!,all over it....................we looked nothing like them, just a lot of huff an puff,no threat whatsoever....?????

25 Million for a guy who plays most of his game out beside the wingers. No thanks, he is useless in the air and has a heart of a mouse. He can go for me, he just isn't a centre forward that City can progress with.
I desperately want him to do well, every time I go I want him to boss the defence and rip them a new one, it hasn't happened for him and if we keep him then next season will be huge.
A big point is that Tevez doesn't operate well with Adebayor, his goals dry up when Adebayor "plays".
A 25 million pound gamble that might have paid off big time, but imho, it hasn't.

Rubbish, how many times does it need pointing out that despite his height Ade is not nor has ever been a target man. He gets a slagging because he appears lazy, the same thing some Arsenal fans never truly took to him, however there is nothing much wrong with his technique or his finishing when given an opportunity in front of goal. I think his goal return this season is just about acceptable given his punctuated runs in the team. His bans were a little unfair (certainly the second one) and then all that happened at the Acon is hardly likely to have helped.

If we are desperate for a scapegoat why not look at a diminutive brazilian whom we know can play but didn't want to and didn't have the heart for a fight. To me its unacceptable that we have 32 million pounds of talent living it up in Brazil when he should have been here making a difference, but he didn't have the balls for it.

I reckon we need to keep faith with Ade. He didn't have a good night and has had a very up and down season for various reasons but he has all the potential in the world and we would be better off trying to get the best out of him rather than just ditching a player who has had an okayish season. Clearly there are two or three areas of the team that need addressing (IMO full backs and a creative central midfielder) but we need to not make half a dozen changes to the team, it doesn't work to do that every season. He can do a lot better but Adebayor has not been the reason we didn't make 4th this season.

Bluemoonmatt, it's not rubbish mate, it's my opinion and it's as valid as yours. Imho he is a lazy player who plays a lot of his game time on the wing, What is rubbish about that?
Would you agree that when he is in the team Tevez has to drop deeper and deeper to get the ball as Adebayor cannot keep the ball?
Like I said I want him to do well but City is not a good fit for him. Frustrates the life out of me but I wouldn't be too upset if he left.
Not all his fault by any means, our midfield is as creative as a lump of rock, but he really needs to be in the penalty box more times and show a bit of bite.
