Adebayor (merged)

Mail report we will go for Forlan if it falls through.

Manchester City will consider a fresh move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan should they fail to seal a £25m deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Arsenal striker's representatives have held talks with City but there is still some difference on personal terms. Barcelona are keen also on Forlan but Atletico want around £30m.

Next strike: Diego Forlan is said to be a target for Manchester City
City manager Mark Hughes left for the club's tour of South Africa yesterday and said: 'We are still in discussions (over Adebayor) and the talks will continue. We have got attacking-minded players but we are looking to bring other players to the club before the transfer window closes.
'We are also looking to strengthen the defence. Every transfer deal is difficult and has different problems.'

Muh 30 million for a 30 year old striker I'd rather pay and extra 10 or 15 and get Aquero.

Not for me thanks.

A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS, why when hughes is looking for a hold up striker would he go for forlan?, he would not. If Ade falls through, the next on the list is Villa....I'm telling you. :)

Sorry to destroy your fantasy but Villa is not a hold up striker either. We will sign Adebayor. Im confident.

I think we'll get him as well, none of these papers have offered anything new to the story. We only found out about it at the start of the week and these things take time. Hopefully it will be sorted quickly, but if it does fall through it's not like we haven't got the money to get someone else in and the transfer windows open for ages yet.

agree 100%, don't mind us paying over the odds but £30m for Forlan, don't think they're daft enough to pay it, it won't happen.

the story about Adebayor's reluctance is merely an attempt by his camp to make him look less of an opportunist mercenary...which is surely how the mainstream press will paint him.

i feel like this deal is done.

We'll get Adebayor, no probs. I really don't want that ex-rag twat Foreskin.

Foreskin - that's piss funny!

These are completely different types of player though - makes no sense for us to go from Eto'o to Adebayor (whilst not exactly the same type of player, I can see the similarity) to Foreskin (totally different style of play) - lazy journalism

Your arguing against yourself there tho mate - if he wants a hold up striker then Forlan and Villa both don't fit the bill

He is not a hold up player by any stretch - and villa will not leave spain.

I would also gueess that we have enquired and been told this. I doubt we have never made any enquiries at least

I agree 100%, I'd already edited my post to try and make it clearer.

Could it not be that if we can't get Adebayor we just stick with Roque?

Saying that I think we'll get him.

I'm a bit worried about this "I want more time" from Adebayor. He thinks moving to City will affect his street cred, to all intents and purposes...

Strange boy. What have Arsenal won in the past 3 years anyway?

I hope so. BTW Sorry for using the quote box. I generally think that people use the quote box when they're going to disagree with someone, but I'm not. Just makes it easier to highlight what you said. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I think he'd be a good buy.

Blue Square are running a range of markets including Ade to score on Man City debut and to score against Arsenal - oddschecker have him at 14/1 on to leave Arsenal - surely this is a good indication?
